Historical facts of slave labor in Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties
Cruel slavery

(1) Slave society is a paradise for slave owners and a hell for slaves.

Slave owners lived in extreme luxury, lived in tall palaces before their death, and built large-scale tombs after their death to continue to enjoy them. 270 years after Pan Geng moved to Yin, the merchants never moved again. It is easy to concentrate a large number of cultural relics in places where the capital has been built for a long time. The Yinxu in Shangdu was destroyed after the attack of King Wu, and gradually became a ruin, so it was called Yinxu. This is the earliest capital with a clear position in the history of China, which is of great significance to the study of the social history of slavery in the late Shang Dynasty. It is reasonable for people to call it the "History Museum" of Shang Dynasty. Since 1928 began to excavate Yin Ruins, countless cultural relics have been unearthed, which has become the key area of archaeological excavation in China, with the center in Shaotun Village, northwest of Anyang, Henan Province, covering an area of 24 square kilometers. There are palaces, royal cemeteries, handicraft workshops, civilian cemeteries and slave burial pits. The excavated 1 1 tombs are huge, and some of them cover an area of more than 1000 square meters. 1976 The tomb of Wuding's wife was excavated, and more than 400 bronzes and jades were unearthed. Many of them are unprecedented art treasures, with beautiful shapes, vivid postures and exquisite decorations. The jade dragon and ivory cup in the picture reflect the technological level of Shang Dynasty. The jade dragon is lifelike and the ivory cup is exquisite. The situation of tombs not only reflects the luxurious life of slave owners and nobles, but also reflects the creative ability of working people.

(2) The miserable life of slaves: "human sacrifice" and "martyrdom"

The extravagant and decadent life of the slave owners and nobles in Shang Dynasty was based on slave labor. The hard work of slaves created a lot of material wealth and spiritual wealth for slave owners and nobles, but they themselves were deprived of all wealth and rights, and even their lives could not be guaranteed. Slave owners not only forced slaves to do all kinds of hard work under extremely harsh conditions, but also slaughtered them as livestock. When Shang kings and slave owners sacrificed ancestors and gods, they often slaughtered a large number of slaves as sacrifices, which was called "human sacrifice". After the death of slave owners, slaves should be killed or buried alive, which is called "human sacrifice". I hope these slaves will wait on them and protect them in the underworld.

1937 portraits of slaves with cangue in Shang Dynasty were unearthed in Yin Ruins. Women's hands are tied to their chests and men's hands are tied behind their backs, which shows the misery of slave life and the cruelty of slave rule. The tomb of Wang, a military commander in Anyang, Henan Province, is the evidence of the evil human sacrifice system. 1 1 huge tombs and1more than 200 slave burial pits have been excavated in this area. This tomb is one of them, not the largest, and its scale is obvious here. The tomb is shaped like a Chinese character, with a length of 14m from north to south, a width of 12m from east to west and a depth of more than 8m. Plus two tombs in the north and south, 45m in the north and south, with a total area of 340m2. As many as 79 people were buried in this tomb. Another tomb, where as many as 400 slaves were buried. 19 1 sacrificial pits were found in Anyang, with more than 1000 human bones, mostly young men and women. Whether it is "human sacrifice" or "human sacrifice", according to their bones, they all died miserably, some were beheaded, some were buried alive, some were dismembered, some were beheaded, and some were pushed into the pit and killed with a hammer. Ask the students to think: What does the cruel fact of "human sacrifice" and "human sacrifice" mean? In other words, why did the slave owners dare to slaughter slaves unscrupulously? On the basis of students' answers, the teacher pointed out that in the evil slave society, slave owners not only possessed all the fruits of slave labor, but also possessed slaves themselves. Slaves are the private property and "talking tools" of slave owners, who have the right to buy, sell and even kill slaves. This is also the reactionary nature of slave society.
