How to insert footnotes in word to circle the automatically generated numbers?
1. Open the document and find the arrow in the lower right corner of the footnote column in References.

2. Click the hidden arrow to pop up the Footnotes and Endnotes dialog box, where you can adjust the position and format.

3. Click "Number Format" and select the circled format from the drop-down box.

4. Number of the fourth column, including "continuous", "renumbering each section" and "renumbering each page".

Select "Renumber each page" here (the most commonly used), and finally click "Apply" to complete the setting. At this point, each page is renumbered as a circled footnote.
