What are the indicators for evaluating scholars?

The standard of highly cited scholars is one of the indicators to evaluate the influence of an academic paper, monograph or scholar.

The high citation standard is one of the indicators to evaluate the influence of an academic paper, monograph or scholar, which is calculated by the citation database of "Web of Science" owned by Thomson Reuters. High citation standard means that in a specific field or discipline, the citation frequency of a paper reaches the first 1% of the citation frequency of papers published in the same period in this field or discipline.

A high citation standard usually means that an academic paper or monograph has a wide influence, or that the scholar has a high academic reputation in a particular field or discipline. In addition, highly cited papers or monographs are often an important reference for the development direction of a certain field or discipline.

For scholars, obtaining high cited standards can enhance their academic status and popularity, and also play a certain role in academic evaluation and career promotion. At the same time, the high citation standard also has some limitations, such as only considering the number of citations, not considering the quality and influence of citations.

Therefore, the standard of high citation is only one of the reference indexes to evaluate academic influence, and it cannot represent the full academic level of a scholar. Nanjing University, a famous university in China, is a little disappointed with this understanding. There are only 92 highly cited scholars, which have not entered the top ten in China, ranking 1 1.

Selection criteria of highly cited scholars;

At least three conditions must be met: first, the total number of citations of academic works is high; Two, at least one work has a great influence, which belongs to the former 1% cited papers; Third, the average number of citations of the author's main works should not be lower than the world average in the same period.
