Brain imaging is mainly divided into the following five categories: computed tomography (CT scanning), positron emission tomography (PET), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and angiography.
Extended data
American researchers have developed a new brain imaging technology, which can quickly image the brain in three dimensions with higher resolution and reveal the connection state of the whole brain neurons faster than other methods.
The research was done by researchers from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of California, Berkeley, howard hughes Medical College and Harvard Medical College. They published a paper in the journal Science on June 5438+07, giving a comprehensive introduction to this new technology. It is pointed out that the key of new technology is to combine extended microscope technology with grating microscope technology.
Extended microscope technology can significantly improve the imaging resolution by expanding the observed tissue volume. Combined with the fast three-dimensional microscope technology of grating microscope, ultra-high resolution three-dimensional images of observed tissues will be generated faster.
