Early education:

Wei was born in a wealthy family in Ningdu County, Jiangxi Province on the 13th day of the first month of the fourth year of the Ming Dynasty. Father Wei Zhaofeng, whose real name is Shengqi, is Tian Min. Charity is difficult and urgent. At the beginning of Chongzhen, scholar Chen Maode recommended Zhao Feng who was born in Xiaolian. Soon, he was elected as a teacher of Confucianism, and he was invited by Governor Ye in the court, and the son of heaven sent a letter to recruit. Zhaofeng "attaches great importance to the qualifications of the times. Many people in the imperial court, although out, will not do it or do it."

At that time, scholars called Zhao Feng a "gentleman". Wei grew up sickly, studied with his father and went to school in the countryside. He is smart, eager to learn, knowledgeable, unforgettable and talented. "At the age of eleven, he became a disciple in the city and was named Cao." He is generous and confident, willing to solve problems for others and likes to talk about military affairs with others. Sun Jing 'an's evaluation of him in Records of the Adherents of the Ming Dynasty is "good at sizing up the situation, deciding success or failure in advance, hanging on the plan and then measuring".

His foresight not only won the trust and respect of his peers, but also laid the foundation for him to settle in Cuiweifeng and plan to live in seclusion. Wei had great ambitions when he was a teenager. At the age of fourteen, he studied under Mr. Yang Yishui in Tongli and joined the imperial examination. He hopes to be the first one one day and become a useful talent for the country.

According to Yang's epitaph, among Mr. Wang's disciples, Mr. Shi is in charge of himself. He often sees Mr. Yang, who is very happy. He said everything naturally, no matter big or small. However, the change of 1644 made his imperial examination disillusioned, when he was only 2 1 year old. He was deeply saddened by the ruin of his country, and blamed the change of Shen Jiazhi on the imperial examination, which was "not practical, but unfavorable to the imperial court". So he gave up the imperial examination and followed his brother-in-law Qiu Weiping to study ancient prose and embarked on another way of learning.
