Anhui Normal University (AHNU for short), located in Wuhu City, Anhui Province, was founded in 1928 and is the first comprehensive university in the history of higher education in Anhui Province.

The school is a university jointly established by the People's Government of Anhui Province, the people of China and the Ministry of Education of China. It is one of the first four universities supported by the "Construction Project of High-level Universities with Local Characteristics" and "Funding Project of High-level Universities" in the revitalization plan of higher education in Anhui Province, and has been selected into the "Excellent Teacher Training Plan" of the Ministry of Education.
