The History and Culture of Jishan Banzao
According to ancient literature and folklore, the planting of jujube in Jishan began in the period of Yao, Shun and Yu, and began to be planted on a large scale when Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty implemented the equal field system in nine years. The cultivation and processing techniques were mature in the Eastern Wei Dynasty. Sui and Tang Dynasties, Northern Song Dynasty and Jin Dynasty, with the development of Huang Qishu, were listed as "tributes" by the royal families in previous dynasties. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it became one of the main sources of local tax revenue. After the founding of New China, Jishan Jujube was recognized by the world, and Jishan County was also known as the hometown of jujube in China. At present, there are 17500 ancient jujube trees over one thousand years old. Jishan jujube has been cultivated for more than 4000 years.

Jishan County, called sorghum in ancient times, is the hometown of abandoned agricultural ancestor and the hometown of banzao in China. Jishan Banzao is evolved from Zizyphus jujuba Mill, and its causal shape is relatively flat. The local dialect is relatively flat, so it is called Banzao. Jishan Banzaosu is famous for its thin skin, small core, thick meat and sweet taste, and its sugar content is as high as 76.2%, which is twice that of other red dates.
