The training set is used to estimate and fit the parameters of the model, and the verification set is used to test the generalization performance of the model. Therefore, the modeling set and the verification set are different. The baseline of the modeling set and the verification set need not be exactly the same, but they should be similar enough to ensure that the model has sufficient generalization performance, that is, the model has good prediction ability for new data.
