Yu Runyang, male, born in July, 1932, native of Shenyang. Musician, professor of Central Conservatory of Music, doctoral supervisor. 1952- 1960 studied composition and musicology at the central conservatory of music and Warsaw university in Poland, 1960 returned to China to teach at the central conservatory of music, 1983- 1992 served as vice president and dean of the central conservatory of music. He is also a director of China Musicians Association, a member of the discipline evaluation group of the State Council Academic Degree Committee, a member of the research advisory committee of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, a member of the teaching material steering committee of higher art colleges of the Ministry of Culture, and the president of China Music Aesthetics Society. Over the years, he has not only trained a group of master students and doctoral students in his teaching post, but also published a series of papers on the history of western music and music aesthetics, as well as a collection of essays, a study on the history of music aesthetics, monographs, an introduction to modern western music philosophy, a new draft of music aesthetics and on the particularity of music. Due to his achievements in teaching and academic research, 1984 was awarded the Polish Cultural Contribution Medal by the People's Republic of Poland, 1987 was awarded the title of "National Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions" by People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Ministry of Personnel, and 1993 was awarded the "National College" by the State Education Commission.
