In principle, all necessary references should be cited and marked by the author. References refer to relevant books and materials cited for writing or editing works. When citing references, they should be marked with Arabic numerals in the order in which they first appear in the text.
The cited references should be selected.
With the continuous development and progress of medical science, the number and types of medical literature are increasing. When selecting references, we need to screen the authors, and we need to use our knowledge and discriminating ability to select scientific, convincing and representative documents from many related documents. If the country does not strictly screen, it may get wrong results, not only misleading itself, but also misleading readers.
According to the idea of evidence-based medicine, the evidence level of metal analysis is very high. Even so, if there is no strict design review, many documents with poor design and unreliable results will still be summarized, and the results are likely to be counterproductive. Therefore, the author should be selective when referring to and quoting documents, and can't quote them at will.
The cited references should be carefully checked.
Carefully check the references to be selected to avoid mistakes. Not only in the text and description format, but also in the content; Also check with the original. The author should read the selected references one by one in order to correctly understand the author's original intention.
The author once handled a review, and there were about 20 English references at the back of the article. I looked it up on the Internet, and 18 was wrong. The types of errors are as follows: ① Miscitation of author's name: According to the general requirements of medical journals, the surnames of foreign authors should be marked, and then their initials, such as BillClinton, should be marked as? Clinton Bay? . Some authors often reverse the first and last names of foreign authors. (2) Spelling mistakes are mostly caused by the author's carelessness or quoting without checking with the original text. ③ The page number is wrong, or only the marked pages are unmarked. (4) Supplements are not displayed. There are five books without the address of the publishing house.
The above examples show that it is necessary for the author to carefully check the cited references, and he is responsible for the readers as well as himself.
The cited references should be faithful to the original text.
Because it refers to other people's literature, the author has no right to change the original author's intention, but only to introduce the methods, results and conclusions used by the original author. The author can express his opinions on the methods, results and conclusions used by the original author, but he can't change them at will, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
To be faithful to the original, the best way is to read the original carefully before using it, correctly understand the author's original intention, and try not to quote it, so as not to spread wrong information and hurt the original author, readers and themselves.
Attention should be paid to the description format of references
Because the description of references varies from magazine to magazine, the author should pay attention to the relevant provisions of magazine contract before submitting a manuscript, at least look at how the references of papers published in relevant journals are marked first, so as to understand the description format of references in relevant journals and avoid mistakes.
Unfortunately, in practical work, the author found that the writing format of many authors' manuscripts, including the description format of references, is different from that required by magazines. Frankly speaking, editors and reviewers are human beings, and there are also some emotional factors in their work. If you get an article with unsatisfactory writing format, not to mention anything else, it is enough to leave a bad impression on the editor and even let the editor make a decision to reject the manuscript. Even if it is not rejected in the end, this kind of manuscript is much less likely to be hired than the manuscript with standardized writing format.
In fact, the author made a very low-level mistake and naturally reminded the editor that the author did not respect the journal, nor did he respect the editors and peer reviewers of the journal. Therefore, the author must pay attention to the description method of periodical references before submitting the manuscript, so as to avoid unnecessary negative influence. Actually, it's not complicated. Just pay attention.
