What school does Freud's theory belong to in the history of counseling psychology?
Freud's theory belongs to the dynamic school in the history of counseling psychology.

Sigmund freud (1856- 1930), the founder of psychodynamic school, is a neurologist in Vienna. He studied hypnotherapy under the famous psychiatrist Shaq at that time. Shack found that hysteria patients still have sexual problems, which inspired Freud to think that hysteria is probably caused by psychological factors related to sexual desire.

Later, he cooperated with J. Brewer to treat and study hysteria with hypnosis. Brewer once made a hysterical patient recall all the emotional experiences related to her illness under hypnosis, and said them one by one. The patient felt very comfortable after speaking it out, and finally the symptoms disappeared and returned to normal. He and Freud published a paper "Hysteria Research" in 1895.

Put forward a theory that emotional experience derived from consciousness will control many psychological abilities, so if you are sick, wash all these emotions in hypnotic memory and vent your blocked psychological abilities, and you will be fine. They call this method catharsis or venting, also known as talk therapy.

Later, Freud discovered in clinical practice that there is no cure for neurosis by hypnosis. Some patients' symptoms disappeared, while others reappeared. In addition, some patients can't enter hypnosis at all. He tries his best to let patients relax when they are awake, express their thoughts as soon as possible, and get curative effect without any constraints and restrictions.
