Papers on New Building Material Glass
Nanyang Technological University has developed intelligent windows that can absorb sunlight.

Windows are common building materials in buildings. Recently, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore has developed a special "smart window", which can absorb solar energy during the day and release heat at night, thus reducing the energy consumption of air conditioning in buildings by 45%. The research team published this paper in Joule magazine.

It is reported that smart windows absorb sunlight during the day and release heat at night. The window consists of two pieces of ordinary glass, and its solution consists of patented hydrogel, water and stabilizer.

During the day, the liquid will absorb and store the heat energy of the sun, thus reducing the heat energy entering the room and reducing the demand for air conditioning. In addition, when the liquid is heated, it will become opaque, thus reducing sunlight from entering the room and further keeping the room cool.

At night, the liquid cools down and releases heat energy, and part of the energy enters the room, which also reduces the demand for air conditioning.

In addition, compared with the traditional double-glazed window, the intelligent window can reduce the outdoor noise by 15%.

According to the test, this kind of window can reduce the energy consumption of air conditioning in office buildings by 45%. At present, Nanyang Technological University is looking for a partner, hoping that this technology can be commercialized and realize energy saving and emission reduction.
