How high is the Drum Tower in Linfen?
Linfen Gulou is located in Linfen city. Founded in the Northern Song Dynasty, it has been rebuilt in Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, but the building still maintains its original architectural characteristics. The building plane is square, each side is 40m, the area is1600m2, and the height is 40.5m.. There are no cloisters around. The base is all made of blue bricks, and the seat is eight meters high. There are five-meter-high ticket gates in the east, west, north and south. The banners of the four gates are engraved with the words "You He in the north", "Qin Shu in the south", "Dong You" and "Fenhe River in the west" respectively. The building is solid and thick, and the structure is reasonable. It's a two-story three-eaves cross pavilion on the top of the mountain. This building is unique, tall and majestic. The ancients called it "a thousand miles away, relying on clouds to force the sun." Unfortunately, such an important ancient building was destroyed by the war in 1948. 1983, Linfen Municipal People's Government established the Drum Tower Restoration Committee to advocate the people of the whole city to raise funds and donate money to repair the Drum Tower. 1984 started, 1986 resumed.
