Tianan city gate explanation
Tiananmen Gate consists of two parts: Gate Tower and Gate Tower. It is made of white marble with a total height of 34.7 meters. Tiananmen Gate Tower is 66 meters long and 37 meters wide, located on the central axis of Beijing Imperial City. A portrait of Mao Zedong hangs above the doorway in the middle, with big slogans like "Long live People's Republic of China (PRC)" and "Long live the great unity of the people of the world" on both sides.

Tiananmen Square is located in the center of Beijing, the capital of People's Republic of China (PRC), at the southern end of the Forbidden City, facing Tiananmen Square, Monument to the People's Heroes, Great Hall of the People, Chairman Mao Memorial Hall and China National Museum across Chang 'an Avenue.

Tiananmen Square covers an area of about 4,800 square meters and attracts worldwide attention for its outstanding architectural art and special political status.

Tiananmen Square was originally named Chengtianmen, which means "blessed by heaven and ordered by heaven". In the eighth year of Qing Shunzhi (165 1), it was officially renamed Tiananmen Square.
