Xiao Jiesan, whose real name is Min Nan, was born in Wuling County in Qing Dynasty. In the seventeenth year of Daoguang (1837), he was awarded the title of Changsha Xieqianzong, and was promoted to Yongsui garrison for meritorious service. Xianfeng years with Zeng Guofan led navy to Hubei, Jiangxi and other places. In the third year of Xianfeng (1853), Tianjia Town in qi zhou, Hubei Province was conquered and became a guerrilla. Xianfeng five years (1855) led the navy to attack Hukou, Jiangxi, and the Taiping Army retreated to Shi Zhongshan. He led 17 warships to storm Shi Zhongshan, and the Taiping Army artillery counterattacked and was killed by gunfire. Emperor Xianfeng was named lieutenant.

Xiao Jiesan was put into the camp by Wu Ju, who had been in charge of Xiangyin Ganzong. In the fourth year of Xianfeng, the Taiping Army conquered Xiangyin, and Xiao Jiesan was dismissed. Later, Zeng Guokun took a fancy to his talent, commanded the navy, and repeatedly made meritorious military service. In the autumn and July of the fifth year of Xianfeng, Zeng Guofan crossed the lake with the army in Pingjiang camp, and the navy attacked Hukou. Taiping Army surrendered to Shi Zhongshan to establish a strong base area, and Xiao Jiesan attacked with the navy and the army. More than 3,000 people were killed in the Qing army, and Xiao Jiesan was also killed in the artillery fire.
