On July 8th this year, Gulangyu Island in Xiamen was approved to be included in the World Heritage List at the World Heritage Conference held in Krakow, Poland, becoming the 52nd World Heritage Site in China.
In Huangjia Garden with Gulangyu architectural features, the awarding ceremony of "Gulangyu: Historical International Community" was officially held that morning, and Bokova presented the world heritage certificate to Xiamen Mayor Zhuang.
When Xiamen Mayor Zhuang was awarded the World Heritage Certificate on behalf of Xiamen, he pointed out that Xiamen will earnestly implement the solemn commitment made by the China Municipal Government at the World Heritage Conference, and protect the cultural heritage in strict accordance with the Convention on the Protection of World Cultural Heritage and international first-class standards, so as to make Gulangyu, a cultural treasure, more brilliant and shine forever in the sky of human civilization.
