In 2003, the World Food Programme (WFP), the world's largest humanitarian aid agency, and TNT Group, one of its largest business partners, jointly organized the annual global charity walk "Ending Hunger-Walking Between Heaven and Earth". DSM Group joined WFP as a global partner in 2008. Up to now, more than 1 10,000 people from 24 time zones around the world have joined the ranks of "walking the world" for public welfare. This year, people from 70 countries 190 cities around the world will take part in this activity, starting with climbing the Sydney Bay Bridge, then starting in 24 time zones, and finally ending in Samoa, a Pacific island country.
In Shanghai, Olympic champion Li, employees, family members and friends of TNT China, TNT Huayu and DSM Group participated in the global walking activities. The funds raised by China Zou Yi will be used for WFP's "School Feeding" project in Cambodia, and provide healthy and nutritious meals for students in Sichuan disaster areas through the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation.
Hunger and malnutrition pose the greatest threat to global human health, and the United Nations World Food Programme is the forefront of the United Nations fight against hunger. At present, one sixth of the world's population goes to bed hungry, and one third of children in developing countries are malnourished. According to the data of the United Nations World Food Program, it only takes 20 Euro cents (about 2 yuan RMB) to provide a nutritious meal for a child.
"At present, the hungry and poor people in the world are facing unprecedented challenges. For us, it is of great significance to choose to carry out the' Walking Heaven and Earth' public welfare walk at this time. " Josette Schilling, executive director of WFP, said, "Because of the high food prices in many developing countries, the global financial crisis still seriously affects the income of many families, which makes children suffer greatly."
"In fact, as long as a few dollars, WFP and China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation can provide a nutritious school meal for a child-helping them grow up and study healthily." Wei Anxia, director of WFP China Office, said, "No matter where you live, every child deserves us to create the best conditions for their growth."
"Walking the charity walk between heaven and earth witnessed the further cooperation between the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation and the United Nations World Food Program. The China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation will publicize the use of funds raised through the website to ensure that donations really help children in need. " Chen Kaizhi, vice president of China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, said.
"This is the seventh year that TNT has participated in this global voluntary walk. We have seen the positive changes brought by this meaningful project to those hungry or malnourished children. " Michael Drake, managing director of TNT North Asia, said, "I am particularly proud that this year, our colleagues in 24 other cities except Shanghai have also embarked on the road of justice and worked hard to end hunger."

On May 12, 2008, an earthquake of magnitude 8.0 occurred in Wenchuan, Sichuan. The earthquake destroyed the former home, took away familiar relatives and caused great mental trauma. In the earthquake, many companies in TNT Huayu West were also attacked, but Huayu people were not defeated. They rallied, quickly organized a motorcade and rushed to the disaster area overnight to deliver relief supplies.
