Dongsheng Street is located in the core area of Ningbo, on the east bank of Sanjiangkou, with Zhongxing Road and Liu Dong Street in the east, Yongjiang River in the west, Zhongshan East Road and Baizhang Street in the south, Jingjia Road and Minglou Street in the north. The jurisdiction covers a total area of 2 square kilometers, with a permanent population of more than 40,000 (including a registered population of more than 34,000) and a floating population of more than 100, and governs the four districts of Shuguang, Shi Jia, Qing 'an and Minglou.

The street was established in 1956 1. It is one of the old streets with a long history in jiangdong district, and also a traditional key cultural business district in jiangdong district, with profound cultural heritage. The street area forms five characteristic blocks, namely: the financial and business district of Zhongshan East Road centered on Ningbo People's Bank, Xinjiangxia Shopping Mall and Guangjin Department Store; Cultural industry tourism and leisure area with Ningbo Book City, Qing 'antang, Shanshan Park and East Bund Cultural Corridor as the core; Educational and cultural areas represented by Shuguang Road Teaching Area, Shuguang Primary School and Shuguang Cinema of Ningbo University; Sports and leisure areas based on urban sports centers; Ning Chuan Road Hardware Characteristic Block composed of hundreds of hardware stores.
