It has a long history and rich resources. Formerly known as Sichuan Tongsheng Agricultural School, it was founded in 1906. Since then, it has passed through Sichuan Higher Agricultural School (19 12), Sichuan Public Agricultural College (19 14) and Sichuan University Agricultural College (190) 1956, the Agricultural College of Sichuan University moved to Ya 'an, the former capital of Xikang Province (1955 revoked) and was independently established as Sichuan Agricultural College. 1985 changed its name to Sichuan Agricultural University, 200 1 integrated Sichuan Forestry School. The school has three campuses, namely Ya 'an, Chengdu and Dujiangyan, with a total area of about 4,500 mu and a collection of11658,900 volumes (pieces).
The disciplines are complete and distinctive. At present, there are 26 colleges, 15 research institutes (centers) and 1 national key laboratories (under preparation), covering agronomy, science, engineering, economics, management, medicine, literature, education, law, art and other disciplines 10, and there are 7 post-doctoral research stations. There are 48 first-level disciplines authorized by master's degree, 18 disciplines authorized by master's degree, 4 national key disciplines and key cultivation disciplines, and 9 provincial key disciplines 19. In 2005, the school was identified as one of the 40 key universities in the national discipline construction plan for aiding Xinjiang. According to the comprehensive score of the results of the fourth round of national subject evaluation in 20 17, the school ranked seventh in the national agricultural and forestry universities and fourth in Sichuan universities. Since 20 15, the ESI ranking of agricultural science, botany and zoology has remained at the top of the world 1%. Animal Nutrition and Feed Science 20 17 and Crop Science 20 18 were selected into the National Academic Innovation and Intelligence Introduction Plan (11Plan).

Ho leung ho lee foundation 3, Fok Ying Tung Education Fund 13, Sichuan Outstanding Contribution Award 3, Sichuan Outstanding Talent Award 1 person. The school is one of the first two pilot universities in the pilot area of talent priority development in the province.
