Brief introduction of the author of "Parents' Effectiveness Training Manual"
Dr Thomas Gordon, a licensed psychologist in the United States, studied under the famous humanistic psychologist carl rogers. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and stayed there to teach. He was the president of California Psychological Society and the White House Children's Advisor. Dr Gordon is famous for his "Gordon method", which was originally used to improve the relationship between parents and children, and later developed into a general model to improve all interpersonal relationships.

Dr Gordon has spent nearly 50 years teaching parents, teachers and leaders how to establish effective relationships, which are based on the belief that coercion will destroy good interpersonal relationships. Therefore, he began to explore an alternative method to help people communicate better and solve conflicts at home, school and work.

These skills include "active listening", "information" and "no loser" conflict resolution. These methods are now widely used all over the world. Since then, Dr. Gordon has successfully developed his T.E.T (Teacher Effectiveness Training), L.E.T (Leadership Effectiveness Training) and other projects, becoming a world-renowned "father of communication".

Dr Gordon used these methods when he first served as a consultant for some commercial organizations in the 1950s. 1962, he developed the course of "parental effectiveness training" (P.E.T.), and the first P.E.T. course was taught to 14 parents by himself in a cafe in Pasadena, California, USA. As it turns out, this course is very popular, so Dr. Gordon began to train lecturers to teach courses in the community. In the next few years, this course spread to 50 States in the United States.

From 65438 to 0970, Dr. Gordon wrote a book, Parental Effectiveness Training Manual (P.E.T), which introduced countless parents into his new family education concept. People all over the world have also begun to pay attention to this course and set up training in their own countries. According to statistics, this book is published in 33 languages around the world, and the English version has sold more than 5 million copies. In more than 43 countries and regions around the world, nearly 5 million parents attend this training course every year.

In order to contribute to the improvement of interpersonal relationship, Dr. Gordon was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize three times in 1997, 1998 and 1999. In 2000, American Psychological Association and California Psychological Association awarded him the "Lifetime Achievement Award". In addition, Dr. Gordon serves as the White House Children's Adviser.
