Xu loved poetry, books, paintings and music since childhood. He studied vocal music and performing arts with famous artists such as Wu and Guo, and performed with famous conductors such as Nie, Li Huade, Qiu Li, Yang Jiemin, Ryan and Yan Liang in Beijing Concert Hall, Zhongshan Concert Hall, poly theatre, Century Theatre, Workers' Gymnasium, Forbidden City and China Millennium Monument. As the first lead singer of Guo Art Troupe, she participated in the national tour of the troupe in the early 1990s.
