The founder of Xuefeng Temple is Yicun (822-902), a monk from Quanzhou, Fujian Province, whose common name is Zeng. At the age of twelve, he became a monk, and at the age of seventeen, he was endowed with tools to inherit the mountain dharma. After the penance of "three investments in children, nine investments in caves and mountains", a temple was built in Gu Xiang Mountain, Fuzhou, and its name was Xuefeng, which was widely known as the good knowledge of 1,500 people. At the age of seventy, I traveled to Siming, Ningbo, Zhejiang and Danqiu, Jiangsu. After entering Fujian, he was 87 years old.

Proficient in Buddhism and respected. Among the five schools of Zen (Luyang, Lin Ji, Cao Dong, Fayan and Yunmen), Fayan and Yunmen were sent out. The ancients wrote poems praising: Taihua coagulates hibiscus/the flowing clouds are light and heavy every other day/it's warm in midsummer/it's like winter in autumn/the silver hoe scatters Chung Shan Man/the jade pine is rugged/the Yuhuatai looks up several times/the light shakes the pavilion and the frost bell rises.
