A Record of Sun Daoren's Life
In the first year of the Republic of China, after the establishment of the Nanjing Provisional Government, Sun Daoren was appointed Lieutenant General of the Army and Governor of Fujian. Various factions within the new regime in Fujian are fighting for power and profit, and the situation is chaotic. Factional struggles were launched with Sun Daoren and Peng Shousong as representatives. After Yuan Shikai usurped the fruits of the revolution and succeeded the president, he instructed Cen Chunxuan to lead troops into Fujian in the name of town governor and forced Peng Shousong to leave. Since then, Fujian's military and political power has been concentrated in the hands of Sun Daoren.

In April of the first year of the Republic of China, Mr. Zhongshan visited Fujian for the first time, and this trip was also his only trip to Fujian. On April 1 day, Sun Yat-sen resigned as president, and with the ambition of traveling around provinces, promoting and developing industry and education, he moved from Nanjing and Shanghai to Wuchang, and then returned to Shanghai, Fujian and Guangzhou. On the afternoon of April 19, Sun Yat-sen and his party entered Hong Kong by Taishun, and Fujian Governor Sun Daoren boarded the ship to meet them. Later, he came to Qianqian Bridge South Public Welfare Society to talk with revolutionary volunteers, paying special attention to the survivors of Huanghuagang martyrs. Zang Qianshan's Qiaonan Public Welfare Society is the seat of Fujian Branch of China League, and it is also a political and military action place where revolutionaries plan to recover Fujian. Dr. Sun Yat-sen took a group photo with members of Fujian League, and wrote the word "Independence Hall" for Qiaonan Public Welfare Society as a souvenir. Now this place is the "Chinese Medicine Eye Hospital", and a stone tablet of "Zilitang" stands in front of the Fujian People's Government for future generations to pay tribute to. In July of the 2nd year of the Republic of China, Li Liejun raised the banner against Yuan in Hukou, Jiangxi Province, and the "Second Revolution" broke out. Anhui, Hunan, Guangdong and other provinces have successively declared independence. Representatives from all walks of life in Fuzhou submitted a petition to the Governor's Office, demanding the declaration of independence. Sun Daoren deliberately looked on and hesitated. At that time, Liu Tong, Huang Guangbi and other revolutionaries, who were the teachers of the 14th Division of the Republic of China, threatened Sun Daoren and sent troops to crusade against Yuan. Sun Daoren had no choice but to send a telegram to Xu Chongzhi on July 19, 2009, announcing Fujian's independence and electing Xu Chongzhi as the commander-in-chief of Fujian Yuan Jun. Although Xu Chongzhi urged Sun Daoren to declare independence, Sun Daoren's request for Xu Chongzhi to send troops to the Northern Expedition was only verbal, but he did not support it in action. Fuzhou Chamber of Commerce does not raise funds on its behalf. Fujian declared independence due to insufficient wages, but Yuan Jun never left the province.

After the failure of the "Second Revolution", Sun Daoren announced the cancellation of independence by electricity on August 9, and apologized to Yuan Shikai, shifting the responsibility to Xu Chongzhi. Soon, Yuan Shikai sent Li Houji to lead the troops into Fujian and dismiss the Fujian army. Sun Daoren was forced to resign as the viceroy and go to Beijing to be examined by Yuan Shikai. Soon, he was allowed to return to China. Sun Daoren lost his dependence and retired. In his later years, Sun Daoren was employed as a senior adviser to the Fujian provincial government and lived in Gulangyu. At the invitation of his daughter and son-in-law, he retired in Xiamen and died in Xiamen soon.
