During the Five Dynasties War, Chuzhou was a place where soldiers used weapons. At that time, Mao led the troops of the Zhou Dynasty to defeat the 150,000 soldiers and horses of Li Jing at the foot of Liu Qing Mountain, and captured the southern Tang generals Huang Fuhui and Yao Feng alive outside the East Gate of Chuzhou, thus pacifying Chuzhou. I visited the local mountains and rivers, studied local chronicles, climbed high to watch Liu Customs clearance, hoping to find the place where Huangfuhui and Yao Feng were captured. But those who witnessed the war are gone, because the world has been peaceful for a long time. Since the political collapse of the Tang Dynasty, the country has been torn apart, and heroes in the world have sprung up to compete with each other. There are countless hostile regimes everywhere. In the Song Dynasty, saints were born and the four seas were unified. In the past, some people who were kings by mountains and rivers were razed to the ground or died on their own. In one hundred years, Liu Qing is still majestic, and Liu Qing is still clear. I want to ask about the war at that time. Everyone who has experienced it is dead.
Today, Chuzhou, located between the Yangtze River and Huaihe River, is a remote place rarely visited by ships, vehicles, businessmen and tourists. When people were born, they didn't see anything else. They are satisfied with farming, dressing, eating and supporting the elderly. Who can know the merits of the emperor and let the people recuperate, such as rain and dew, sunshine for a hundred years!
When I come here, I like its quiet place and simple business, and I love its peaceful and leisurely folk customs. Since I found such a spring in the valley, I have been sightseeing with people in Chuzhou every day, looking up at the mountains and listening to the sound of the spring with my head down. Picking fragrant flowers and plants in spring, under the dense shade in summer, enjoying ice and snow in winter in first frost in autumn. The bare carvings in autumn and winter, the quiet and beautiful scenery in spring and summer, and the scenery in the four seasons are all pleasing to the eye. The people are also happy for the annual grain harvest and are willing to travel with me. So, I plead for them in the mountains and rivers here, and describe the beauty of local conditions and customs here, so that the people know that they are fortunate to be born in this peaceful era. It is the responsibility of the secretariat to publicize the emperor's kindness and enjoy the people.
