outline
Li Yan is a square, from Nanyang. Less for the county government, known as a gifted scholar, in the early years in Jingzhou bid. When Cao Cao went south to Jingzhou, Li Yan served as the magistrate of Zigui at that time, so he went into exile in Shu and was appointed as the magistrate of Chengdu, because he was famous for his ability in politics. In the eighteenth year of Jian 'an, Liu Bei defeated the troops of Liu Zhang in Fucheng and marched into Mianzhu Pass. Liu Zhang temporarily appointed Li Yan as the Guards and joined the army in Mianzhu to resist Liu Bei. Unexpectedly, Li Yan defected at the cold feet, led the people to surrender, and was worshipped by Liu Bei as a general. After Liu Bei captured Yizhou, Li Yan was appointed as the magistrate and general of Xingye. Prior to this, Yizhou was lax in law and discipline, and moral politics did not move. Liu Bei ordered the military strategist Zhuge Liang, the general Li Jue, the general Liu Ba and the left general Li Yan to formulate the Shu Dao Law, which was the basis of the legal system of Shu and Han.
In the 23rd year of Jian 'an, Liu Bei led an army to attack Hanzhong, and Shu thieves Ma Qin and Gao Sheng gathered tens of thousands of people in V to rebel and capture Zizhong County. At that time, most of the troops and financial resources in Shu went to support the front line in Hanzhong. Li Yan could not mobilize troops from other places, but only led 5 thousand foot soldiers in Qianwei County to crusade against the rebellion and successfully destroyed the rebels. Soon, Yi Shuai Gao Ding of Yue County led an army to besiege Xindao County. Li Yan went to clear the way, and Gao Ding was defeated and fled. Liu Bei and Li Yan were assistant generals in the Han Dynasty, leading the counties as before. In the second year of Zhangwu, the late Lord Liu Beizhao Li Yan went to Yong 'an Palace and worshipped him as a minister, assisting Prime Minister Zhuge Liang in handling state affairs. In the third year of Zhangwu, before Liu Bei's death, Li Yan and Zhuge Liang were appointed as the central defender, unified internal and external military affairs, and stayed in Yong 'an Town, ranking second only to Zhuge Liang.
In the first year of Jianxing, Li Yan's hometown was named Hou, and he had a day off, and Lu Xun was added. Previously, Yong, a famous name in Nanzhong, made an insurrection in Yizhou County. Li Yan wrote six letters to Yong, telling him that he was interested, but Yong refused to listen and still incited rebellion in Nanzhong. After that, Zhuge Liang had to lead an army to pacify Nanzhong.
In the fourth year of lite, Li Yan became a former general. Because Zhuge Liang led the army to Hanzhong and entrusted Li Yan to manage the rear affairs, he moved to Jiangzhou, leaving Chen, the defender, stationed in Yongan. Li Yan is responsible for the military and political affairs in Jiangzhou and Yongan. At that time, Li Yan wrote to Meng Da, a former rebel general and the magistrate of Cao Wei Xincheng, urging him to turn around and return to Shu Han. In his letter, he said: Kong Ming and I are both sent away, deeply worried and responsible, and miss our good companions. Zhuge Liang later wrote a letter to Meng Da, in which he once said: Some are like a trickle, but they are reluctant to give up, which is positive. It can be seen that Li Yan's talent was valued by Zhuge Liang at that time. However, Li Yan is aloof and difficult to get along with others. During his tenure as magistrate, Li Yan had a dispute with the opposing county official Yang Hong over the relocation of the county government. Yang Hong resigned and voluntarily retired. After the governor Jiangzhou, he had a friction with his subordinate keeper Chong Wang. Chong Wang knew that he was hated by Li Yan, and he was afraid that he would defect and surrender to Wei because of being framed. Li Yan thinks highly of himself, and his age and status are similar to Li Yan's, but Li Yan is unwilling to take the initiative to associate with them.
Zhuge Liang was in Hanzhong, ready to send troops to attack Wei, so he wanted to ask Li Yan to lead the army to defend Hanzhong. Li Yan tried to avoid it, but asked that the five counties be designated as Bazhou and let him be the secretariat of Bazhou. Zhuge Liang disagreed. Previously, he advised Zhuge Liang to accept Jiu Xi and urged Zhuge Liang to be king, which was refuted by Zhuge Liang. As a result, the two did not agree and gradually took a group photo. Before Li Yan's countryman Shang Shuling sent Kyle to Wu Dong, he told Zhuge Liang privately that Li had scales in his stomach, suggesting that Li Yan had ulterior motives and might cause trouble. Zhuge Liang praised the undecided events, the Han Dynasty in peril and the cutting short. He thought that he and Li Yan could endure humiliation for their country and cooperate side by side.
In the eighth year of Jianxing, Cao Fu Town of Cao Wei sent troops to attack Shu in three ways, and Zhuge Liang prepared to send troops west to Longyou Wuwei to repel Cao Wei's partial division. In order to strengthen the defense of Hanzhong, Li Yan was asked to lead 20 thousand people to Hanzhong to stop the enemy. Li Yan was dissatisfied with being transferred from Jiangzhou, and it was privately rumored that Sima Yi and others set up official positions to lure him in. Zhuge Liang knew what he meant, so he changed Li Yan to a title of generals in ancient times, and his son Li Feng took over as Jiangzhou's defense governor. Li Yan is willing to go north to Hanzhong. Zhuge Liang ordered Li Yan to protect the affairs of the Prime Minister's Office and the capital of China. Li Yan changed her name to Li Ping.
In the spring of the ninth year of Jianxing, Zhuge Liang led the army to the northern expedition for the fourth time, and Li Yan was responsible for the logistics supply in Hanzhong. At the end of summer, Li Yan sent Hu Zhong and Du A, who joined the army, to see Zhuge Liang, saying that Zhuge Liang had to listen to his advice and retreat because of the continuous heavy rain and insufficient grain and grass. When Li Yan saw Ge Liang retreating, he pretended to be surprised and told everyone that the stores had been spared. How could he come back? He hopes to shirk his responsibility for poor grain transportation and create public opinion to show that Zhuge Liang failed to win at the front despite the fact that the canteen was spared. Then Zhuge Liang's army retreated to Mumen Road, successfully ambushed and killed Zhang A, the general of Wei Jun who was pursuing him. With a genial smile, Li Yan, the ruler of the above-mentioned table, said that the army had retired and fought to lure thieves, with the intention of concealing the reason why Zhuge Liang withdrew without reason and not letting the court ask. After Zhuge Liang learned about Li Yan's bullying behavior, he thought that Li Yan made a fuss for no reason, kept calm in a crisis, and was stubborn. He decided to investigate his crime. Li Yan is afraid, exposed and resentful. When he heard that Zhuge Liang's army was about to return to Xixiang, he left his post without leave, excused himself from his post, and even wanted to return to Jiangyang in the south, which made Zhuge Liang beyond his reach for a while. Finally, Hu Zhong, who joined the army, persuaded him many times, and he gave up the idea. After Zhuge Liang returned to Hanzhong, he sent a calligraphy before and after Li Yan to show everyone his guilt. Li Yan was speechless. Knowing that he had made a big mistake, he had to plead guilty. Zhuge Liang believes that traitors can't be tolerated and fostered when the country is in great trouble, which will even endanger the great cause. It was impeached jointly with ministers and demanded that they be removed. Li Yansui was dismissed and demoted, and was later placed in Zitong County. However, there are hundreds of handmaiden guests, and he is still at home. After Li Yan was abolished as Shu Ren, Zhuge Liang still joined the army with his son Li Feng as the Prime Minister's office and served as a deacon with Jiang Wan. Zhuge Liang also wrote a letter to Li Feng, asking him to comfort himself, diligently investigate Qian Que, and urging his father to reflect on his mistakes, so that whether he can recover or not, it shows that Li still has a chance to return to his post in the future. Li Yan often hoped that Zhuge Liang would forgive him, restore his official position and let him turn over a new leaf.
