Yongning Gate, commonly known as South Gate, was built in the early Sui Dynasty, and it is the city gate with the longest history. It is the east gate of the three gates in the south of the imperial city, which is called an on-site gate. In the late Tang Dynasty, when Han Jian contracted to build a new city, this gate was reserved as the South Gate, and it was renamed Yongning Gate in the Ming Dynasty.
Suzaku Gate was originally the south gate of Chang 'an Imperial City in Tang Dynasty, and Suzaku Street in the center of the city was under the gate. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, emperors often held celebrations here. The foundation of the city gate post is marble, the threshold made of bluestone is engraved with graceful creeping grass patterns, and the partition wall of the door opening is thick and straight. Zhuquemen, opened at 1986, is located on the west side of the site. Suzaku Gate has four openings.
Hanguangmen is the westernmost gate of the south wall, and it is the west gate to the south of Chang 'an Imperial City in Tang Dynasty. At the end of the Tang Dynasty, when Han Jian contracted to build a new city, it closed the Zhongmen Cave and the Ximen Cave, but kept the Dongmen Cave, which was completely closed after the Northern Song Dynasty. During the restoration of Xi 'an City Wall in 1984, the site containing Guangmen was excavated, and granite columns and carved doorways were found.
