The Changes of Yang Jing Street
Pudong faces the East China Sea in the east, the Yangtze River in the north, Huangpu River in the west and Luchao Port in the south. It is the sediment brought by the Yangtze River, which gradually accumulates from west to east under the support of waves. The water network is vertical and horizontal, the land of fish and rice.

The ocean trail belongs to the alluvial plain of the Yangtze River Delta and became land in the middle of Tang Dynasty. By the Song and Yuan Dynasties, the coastline had extended to the front line of Laohutang (the old seawall), the outer eight regiments (the east of Chuansha) and the ninth regiments were the third saltworks in Xiasha, and the area east of Qingning Temple was the then Nancuo saltworks. Since Xia Yuanji, the head of household in the early years of Yongle, dug Fanjiabang to make the Huangpu River and Wusong River merge, it has become a small triangle in Pudong, with flat terrain, loose soil, dense river network, ground elevation between 32 meters and 4 meters, and influenced by maritime climate, with four distinct seasons, moist air and abundant sunshine. The annual average temperature 15.3 degrees Celsius is slightly lower than that in urban areas, and the annual average frost-free period is about 227 days. Ming Hongzhi's "Shanghai County Records" once described the geographical situation here: "Although it is close to the sea, it is vast and fertile, and there is no land in the world." Therefore, Yuan history called it an important place near the sea. According to the previous records, the mountains and forests are clear. Although it is the hometown of Zeguo, most of it is flat and fertile. The situation depends on the ocean, Wusong is in the north, and the world has heard about it. The winner is Mo Qiang. ”。 This shows that in the Ming Dynasty, this area was an important frontier and a land of plenty.

In the process of changing the sea into fields, the Huangpu River system in Shanghai has formed eight ancient scenes. There are two ancient Bajing rivers passing through Pudong, one is Yang Jing, also known as Toyo Jingbang; The other is Bailianjing, which flows through the central area of Pudong.

In ancient times, Yang Jing was divided into east and west by Huangpu River. Puxi reach is called Xiyangjing and Pudong reach is called Dongyangjing.

Historically, West Pidgin was a river of Huangpu River, which flowed through Sichuan Road, Henan Road and Zhoujing (now Tibet Middle Road), and the flooded side was floodplain farmland. Building houses on both sides of the strait, the population has increased greatly, merchants have gathered, and the water in West Pidgin has become increasingly polluted, which hinders traffic hygiene. 19 14, the British and French concession authorities began to fill rivers to build roads. The road completed by the end of 19 15 is now Yan 'an East Road.

Pudong East Pidgin flows eastward from Huangpu River through more than ten natural villages such as Zhuangjiazhai and Shengjiaxing, and finally leads to Yangjinggang in Yang Jing Town. During the Qianlong period, the river not only allowed ships to pass, but also played a great role in the formation of residential areas along the Yangtze River and the irrigation of farmland. The villagers of Zhuangjia's family also built a bridge over the river, called Zhuangjia Bridge. By the end of the Qing Dynasty, the western end of the East Pidgin was completely submerged, and the flooded river was buried to build roads. The eastern section of Pidgin, also known as Dingshuibang, is located in the east of Shen Yuan Road. Due to long-term water loss, it gradually silted up in the 1980s and was buried by municipal construction. There used to be a dingshui road named after a river, and a dingshui road neighborhood committee was established in Yang Jing town, and there was a dingshui road primary school next to the neighborhood committee.

Besides the West Pidgin and the East Pidgin, there is actually a third river named Yang Jing, which is the port of Yang Jing. Yangjing Port, which flows through Yang Jing Town, is also called North Pidgin. The place name of Yang Jing came from this, and the ancient town of Yang Jing was also named because of difficulties.

Yangjing Port starts from Huangpu Estuary, reaches No.7 Bridge on Pudong Avenue, flows southward through Taozha, Yang Jing Town Bridge and Nanyangjing Bridge, crosses No.9 Bridge on Yanggao Road to the south, joins Huacaoda, and slightly turns to March 8th River, with a total length of 42 kilometers. The tributaries of Yangjing Port include Dingshui Bang, Dichai Bang, Ertang Bang and Zhongcao Bang. Dichaibang is located in the west of Pudong area. It starts from Yangjing Port in the west, flows eastward through Nannan, Renhe, Zhuwan and Gaomiao Village, passes Jinqiao and Zhang Qiao, and enters Majiabang. It is 4 kilometers long and the river surface is wide 12 meters. It was formed in the Ming Dynasty. Because there is much grass in the city, it is named Chai Bang.

195 1, the water conservancy department dredged Yangjing Port in an all-round way, 1969 built Yang Jing sluice and flood control wall to deepen the riverbed. After that, the irrigation area is 1534 1 hectare, and the drainage area is 19343 hectare, allowing 40-ton ships to pass through, with an annual throughput of about 23 tons.

After the founding of New China, great changes have taken place in the basin of Yangjinggang. After treatment, the river course is completely new, and so is the ancient city of Yang Jing. Yangjing Port, a long historical river, is full of new vitality under the new situation and plays its due role in the development of Pudong.
