The construction of Chengdu subway started at 1995. The first subway line, Metro 1, started construction in 2005 and was put into operation on June 28th, 2009. Since then, the subway construction in Chengdu has been accelerating. As of August, 20021year, there are 6 subway lines in Chengdu, with a total mileage of 290 kilometers.
