Brief introduction of Li Ji
Li Ji

Li Ji (594-669), a native of Lihu, Cao Zhou (now southeast of Dongming, Shandong), is famous for his achievements. Li Yuanci, a native of Tang Gaozu, whose surname is Li, was later taboo in Taizong, so he took a single name. An outstanding strategist and commander-in-chief in the Tang Dynasty.

Li Ji was born in the home of a local tyrant. "There are many servants at home, and it has accumulated for thousands of minutes." He is generous and generous, and he and his father are "kind to Hui Shi, helping the world and helping the poor, regardless of relatives and friends". In the 12th year of Great Cause (6 16), Zhai Rang assembled in Wagang (now south of hua county, Henan). At this time, 17-year-old Li Ji also attended. He advised Zhai Rang: "Dongjun is a village with both public and private achievements. Many people know it and it is not suitable for looting. Xingyang, Liang Jun, and Lishui pass by, boating and plundering business trips, and self-financing is enough. " Zhai Rang took his advice, led the army westward, and soon occupied the territory of the second county, plundering public and private merchant ships, thus "giving with rich resources for the benefit of the people", and the team quickly developed to more than 10,000 people. The development of Wagang Army aroused the fear and anxiety of Sui Dynasty, and immediately sent Xingyang Tongshou Zhang Xutuo to lead the army to suppress it. Zhai Rang fought Zhang Xutuo with Shi Biao's stratagem near Haiyang Temple (see). Li Ji and Shi Biao surrounded Sui Jun. After a bloody battle, they killed Zhang Xutuo, which strengthened the prestige of the rebels.

When Li Ji saw that Shi Biao's talent was better than Zhai Rang's, he and Wang Bodang persuaded Zhai Rang to give priority to Shi Biao, so Shi Biao was honored as Gong Wei and became the supreme commander of Wagang Army. Soon, he unexpectedly defeated the imperial army of the Sui Dynasty in Luoshui, and was named Duke of the East China Sea for his achievements. At that time, the floods in Henan and Shandong were serious, and there were hungry people everywhere. Although Yang Di ordered the warehouse to be opened for disaster relief, due to the confusion of government decrees, warehouse officials could not issue them in time, resulting in tens of thousands of people starving to death every day. So Li Ji offered a plan to Shi Mi: "The chaos in the world was originally for hunger. If you get a warehouse in Liyang now, it will be a big help. " Shi Biao accepted his suggestion and ordered him to lead five thousand troops to Liyang Cang. With the cooperation of other rebels, Li Yangcang was captured on the same day, and he quickly opened the warehouse to help the poor and was captured by the people. As a result, they won the enthusiastic support of the hungry people and joined the rebels one after another. "In the first ten days, more than 200,000 soldiers won." As a result, it quickly expanded its ranks and created a new situation in which the rebels flourished.

In the first year of Yining (6 17), the wagang army split, Shimi designed to kill Zhai Rang, and Li Ji was also beheaded by the guards. Shi Biao helped Li Ji to enter an account, personally prescribed medicine for him, and let Li Ji and Dan Xiong Xin and others command Zhai Rang Kibaki, so as to "make decisions at home and abroad".

Afterwards, Shi Biao was arrogant and ignored the soldiers. Although there is a lot of food in the warehouse, the treasury has no money and silk, and the soldiers are dissatisfied because they won the battle without being rewarded. Seeing the unstable morale, Li Ji reminded Shi Biao many times and pointed out his mistakes. Shi Biao was very unhappy and ordered him to leave Liyang town. "Although the name is appointed, it is also sparse."

After Yu Wenhuaji killed Emperor Yang Di in Jiangdu, he led hundreds of troops north to Luoyang, the capital of eastern China. Yang Dong, the King of Yue, just ascended the throne, and could not resist it, so he lured Shi Biao and ordered him to crusade against Yu Wenhuaji. Li Ji was ordered to hold the warehouse city, dig a deep ditch outside the city and strengthen the garrison. Yu Wenhuaji menacing, set up the offensive gear, siege on all sides, but blocked by a deep ditch, unable to reach the gate. Li Ji dug a tunnel in the ditch and launched an attack on the enemy. Yu Wenhuaji was defeated.

In the second year of Wude (6 19), Li Mi was defeated by Wang, and entered the customs and descended to the Tang Dynasty. Li Ji still occupies ten counties such as Liyang and does not belong to it. After listening to the persuasion, he decided to go back to Tang. He said to Guo Xiaoke, the chief historian: "Since Wei Guogong belonged to the Tang Dynasty, the land owned by this man also belongs to Wei Guogong. If you offer it on the above table, you will be defeated by the Lord, and you will be ashamed to invite money for your own merits. Today, it is appropriate to record the names of counties and soldiers, often open Gong Wei, and listen to public contributions. This is Gong Wei's contribution. "So he sent people to Chang 'an to offer them to Shi Biao. When the emissary first arrived in Beijing, Tang Gaozu was surprised to hear that there was no table to play with, only a letter to Shi Biao. The messenger made Li Ji's original intention clear, and Gaozu was very happy and praised him for "being grateful for virtue and promoting merit, and being a pure minister." In other words, he was appointed as the general manager of Liyang, the right general of Wuhou, and Tsao Gong, and gave fertile land 50 hectares as the first district. His father, Gary, was also rewarded. It also made Li Jitong "Yu and Lu soldiers refuse the king."

Soon, Shi Mi was killed for rebelling against the Tang Dynasty. Li Ji advocates loyalty, so please allow him to be buried in the above table. Gao Zu returned Shi Mi's body, and Li Ji was buried in Liyang Mountain as a gift to the monarch and his subjects. "There is great dignity, and the three armies died in mourning." After the ceremony, I took off my mourning clothes with the soldiers. His action of "loyal to the monarch and serving the country" once again won people's recognition and "benevolence and righteousness in the ruling and opposition."

In October of the second year of Wude (6 19), Dou Jiande led his troops south, and met the scouts of Li Ji, resulting in a scuffle. Jiande captured Liyang, broke the city in one fell swoop, captured Huai Li Shentong and his father, and only Li Ji led more than 100 riders to break through. However, because his father was captured, he returned to surrender to Dou Jiande and was appointed as the left general, still guarding Liyang.

Although Li Ji surrendered to Dou Jiande, he was in Cao Cao's heart and in the Han Dynasty's heart. He wanted to get away from the Tang Dynasty, but he was afraid that his father would be implicated, so he conspired with Guo Xiaoke to gain Dou Jiande's trust first, and then he sought to get away. So he took the initiative to attack the king, broke through Jiacheng and captured many prisoners. Then he attacked Xinxiang, captured his rider Liu Heita and presented them to Dou Jiande. Li Ji repeatedly made meritorious military service, won the credit of Dou Jiande, and relaxed his defense. So he returned to the Tang Dynasty in the first month of the third year of Wude (620). It was suggested that Dou Jiande kill Gary. He said: "The achievement of the world, Tang Chen, was captured by me, and he has not forgotten this dynasty. He is also a loyal minister. What crime did his father commit? " Give up not killing.

After Li Ji returned to the Tang Dynasty, he still served as the general manager. Soon, Li Shimin, king of Qin, pacified Liu Wuzhou and won a great victory. Then he took part in the battle to pacify the king. In September this year, Tang Jun defeated Wang's army in Mangshan and advanced to Luoyang. Qing Yang, the general manager of the country, demanded surrender. Yang Qingyuan, an old general of Shi Biao, was sent to Tieyuan Road to appease the masses, so Xing, Bian, Xiao and Yu Jiuzhou came to surrender.

At this time, the prince was guarding Hulao Pass, and the army was stationed between Xingyang and Bianzhou. He heard that Guangzhou had been captured by the Tang Dynasty, and wanted to lead an army to recover Guangzhou, which was repelled by Li Ji. So, Li Ji asked Guo Xiaoke to write a letter to the secretariat of Xingzhou, and Wei Lu went to the Tang Dynasty and captured Wang Xuan's four generals alive. In February of the following year, Li Ji invaded Hulao Pass, Zhengzhou soldiers and Wang secretly surrendered, so they took Hulao Pass in one fell swoop and captured the secretariat Wang Hangben alive.

Wang sticks to the lonely city of Luoyang and asks Dou Jiande for help. Dou Jiande thought his lips were dead and his teeth were cold, so he led the army south to rescue him, and successively captured Guanzhou and Xingyang. Li Shimin and Li Ji guarded the Tiger Prison to prevent Dou Jiande's troops from advancing westward. In March, Li Shimin and Li Ji went to Hulao Pass East to see Dou Jiande Camp and met the Ranger. Dou Jiande immediately sent five or six thousand cavalry to pursue. Li Ji led the ambush to kill, defeated the enemy soldiers, beheaded more than 300 people, captured two of his soldiers alive, and returned home in triumph.

Tang Jun quickly captured Dou Jiande, pacified the king and returned to Chang 'an. In this crusade, Li Shimin was the general and Li Ji was the next. Li Ji ranks first among the generals for his bravery and good fighting. He and the king of Qin both wore golden armor and won the battle with the ancestral temple with fighting spirit.

Li Ji is very loyal. In Wagang, he and Dan Xiong Xin became sworn brothers and vowed to share life and death. After Shi Biao was defeated, he took refuge in the king. Dan Xiong Xin fought bravely. When Tang Jun besieged Luoyang, he galloped on the battlefield and shot Li Yuanji, the king of Qi. After Luoyang was pacified, Dan Xiong Xin was captured and will be executed. Li Ji asked him to redeem Xiong Xin with his official title, but Li Shimin refused. He cried and said to Xiong Xin, "I swear to be dust all my life. How dare I miss my life?" But I can't have both. " Although he is dead, what about Gu Xiong's wife? Because he cut a piece of meat with a knife, he let Xiong Xin eat it and said, "This shows that you have never forgotten. "

Shortly after Dou Jiande was executed, Tang Gaozu recruited Dou Jiande veterans to Chang 'an, and the former veterans were frightened, so Liu Heita colluded with Shi Mi veteran Yanzhou secretariat Xu Yuanlang to jointly fight against the Tang Dynasty. Dou Jiande's old generals and officials killed by Hao Youduo spread all over Hebei Province, and at one time they grew to tens of thousands of people, with a huge momentum. Liu Heita captured Jizhou and advanced to Zongcheng (now the east of Weixian County, Hebei Province). At that time, Li Ji was appointed as the general manager of Lizhou and stationed in Zongcheng. He can't resist. He wanted to surrender to Mingzhou, but he was chased by the Black Tower on the way. Five thousand infantry did not take part in the war, but Li Ji survived. Li Shimin was ordered to crusade against Liu Heita, and the two sides confronted each other in Mingshui City. Li Ji came close to Gao Yanei camp in Heita Yong, killed Gao Yanei and breached his camp. After pacifying Liu Heita, Li Ji was ordered to attack Xu Yuanlang. Tang Jun, Xu Yuanlang lost Lien Chan. Finally, he abandoned the city and fled at night, and was killed.

In the sixth year of Wude (623), he followed Li and Li Jing to crusade against Fu Cha. He led 10,000 infantry, crossed the Huaihe River and captured Shouyang (now Shouxian County, Anhui Province) in one fell swoop. General Chen of Gongtuo led 100,000 troops to station in Liangshan, sent his general Feng to lead 100,000 water troops, locked the ship in the river to block the waterway, and built a camp in Jiangxi to guard the land and water arteries to stop the loyalist. Li Ji led the army to break through his camp, and Hui Liang fled alone. Li Ji attacked and fled back to Danyang (now Nanjing, Jiangsu). Seeing the rout of the whole line, Fu Gong abandoned Danyang City and fled, arriving overnight. Li Ji "chased Wu Kang on horseback, and Jiangnan decided."

In the eighth year of Wude (625), Valery Khan of East Turkistan plundered the area around Bing many times, and Gaozu appointed Li Ji as the chief officer of Bing to resist the Turks. After Emperor Taizong ascended the throne, he became the governor of Bingzhou (governing Taiyuan). Bingzhou is the birthplace of the Tang Dynasty, the gateway to the north and an important military place. Since then, Li Ji has been operational and independent.

Li Ji knows people and is good at their duties, and recommends talents. As early as the Wagang period, he often interacted with talented people such as Gao Jifu and Du Fu. Once he found the talent, he "paid more attention, introduced the dormitory, talked jokingly and forgot to get tired", many of which were introduced by him. At that time, he called them "a mirror to know others." In his early years, he guarded Bing, and Zhang Wenxi was famous for his filial piety. He learned from Bing and joined the army. Good looks once praised him as "the king of today's (middle) small (and)." As soon as Li Ji entered North Korea, Wen Kui and his colleagues held a farewell dinner for him. Li Ji gave two colleagues a sword and a jade belt respectively, but not Wen Kui. Wen Kui was puzzled. Li Ji then explained, "This has nothing to do with me. If one is redundant and not so determined, then give a knife to break its fruit; Some people are born with less inspections, so they are given a belt to keep them tied. If you are talented, you can give nothing. How can you use it? " Because of his strong recommendation, Emperor Gaozong promoted Zhang Wensui as prime minister.

In November of the third year of Zhenguan (629), the Turks invaded Hexi again. Li Jing, the minister of the Ministry of War, was appointed as the general manager of Dingxiang Road March, leading hundreds of thousands of troops to attack. Li Ji was appointed as the general manager of Korea Road March, marching from the clouds. In Baidao, he met the Turkish soldier Li Jiekhan and defeated the Turkish soldiers. Jie Li Khan sent messengers to make peace, and the great Sect Tang Jian went to Turkey. Li Ji and Li Jing talked about the military together, thinking that although Jie Li Khan was defeated, there were still many troops. If you are in chains, you will protect yourself with the nine surnames, and the road is difficult to chase. Today, Tang Jian is there to guard against relaxation. If our army attacks quickly, the Turks will surrender without fighting. This strategy coincides with Jing Li's. He said happily: "What Gong said is Han Xin's strategy of destroying Tian Heng." Sure enough, Excavate attacked Jie Li Khan's tooth account, and Jie Li Khan wanted to escape into the shackles. Li Ji has stationed troops. Jie Li Khan's progress was blocked, and then there was a suitor. His chief led his tribe to surrender to Li Ji. Li Ji captured more than 50,000 people and returned home successfully.

Li Ji guarded Bingzhou for sixteen years, ordered the ban, and served as the guest of honor and head of the title. In the fifteenth year of Zhenguan (64 1), he was recruited as the Minister of War and made the Duke of England. Emperor Taizong said with deep feelings: "Emperor Yang Di could not understand the selection of sages, but built the Great Wall in a far place to prepare for the Turks. As for this, he is confused. " I have sent Li Ji to Bing today, so that the Turks will not dare to escape from a distance and the fortress will be quiet. Isn't it better than the Great Wall of Wan Li? "

Before taking office in Beijing, Xue Yantuo Zhenzhu Khan signed a contract with 200,000 troops of Luo, Uighur and other ethnic groups while Emperor Taizong sealed Mount Tai for rectification, and crossed the desert to attack the Turks who had defected. Once Li Juan Khan could not resist, he led his troops into the Great Wall and sent messengers to be in a hurry. Emperor Taizong immediately sent troops to counterattack Xue Yantuo. Li Ji, the new minister of the Ministry of War, is the chief officer of Shuozhou Road, with 60,000 infantry and 2,000 cavalry.

In December, Khan's son Xue Yantuo generously gathered 30,000 cavalry to approach the Great Wall, and Tang Jun arrived at the rate. Seeing the dust rising into the sky, the soldiers were formidable and daunting, so he led his men to escape from Chikezhuobei. Li Ji selected 6,000 elite riders from his men and Turkish soldiers and intercepted them on the straight road. He crossed Baidaochuan and met Xue Yantuo's army in Qingshan. Generously set up an army to fight, the array is ten miles long. The Turks left first and lost. Generously set up a 56-point attack point, just when Li Ji led the army to arrive. Xue Yantuo sent ten thousand arrows in unison, and Tang suffered heavy casualties. Li Ji ordered the cavalry to dismount, holding a long arm, and rushed forward. Xue Yantuo fled. At this time, Xue Wanche, deputy general manager, arrived in time and snatched Xue Yantuo's steed. Tang Bing joined forces to kill the enemy, beheading more than 3,000 people and capturing more than 50,000 people. Generous set up trouble and fled to the north. When I arrived in Mobei, I was caught in a big snowstorm. "People and animals are frozen to death."

Tang Jun counterattacked Xue Yantuo with a great victory. When his envoy returned to China, Emperor Taizong taught him: "I want you to take the desert as the boundary and the Turks as the boundary. If there is an invasion, I will ask for it. You are strong on your own, attacking Turks over the desert. Li Shiqi can only ride a thousand ears. You are already in such a mess! Back to Khan, you can choose the right one if you are interested. "

After the war, Li Ji entered the Ministry of War, serving as the Minister of History and a scholar of the same book. Li Ji's talent and loyalty won the love and special experience of Emperor Taizong. On one occasion, Li Ji suddenly became ill, and the prescription said that beard ash could be treated. Emperor Taizong did not hesitate to cut off his beard and prepare medicine for him. Li Ji was moved to tears, and she nodded when she thanked him. The following year, Li Zhili became a prince, and Emperor Taizong asked him to assist him. Because he was transferred to the crown prince, he was promoted to a special position and knew politics. At a banquet, Emperor Taizong said to Li Ji, "I will be an orphan. I don't have to think about it." I'm sorry I didn't leave a legacy for Shi Biao. "Li Ji tearfully declined, bite bleeding refers to. After a while, Li Ji was drunk, and Emperor Taizong took off his royal clothes and put them on him himself.

In the 18th year of Zhenguan (644), Emperor Taizong fought in North Korea, taking Li Ji as the chief officer of Liaodong Road, and led 60,000 infantry, cavalry and Hu Bing who defected from Lanzhou and Hehezhou to Liaodong. In March of the following year, Li Ji started from Liucheng (now Chaoyang, Liaoning Province), bluffing first, giving people the illusion of attacking huaiyuan town and secretly marching into the tunnel. In April, I crossed the Liaohe River from Dingtong Town and arrived at Xuantu (now Tielingnan, Liaoning Province). Koryo panicked and closed the gate to protect herself. Then Li Ji captured Gai City (now Fushun, Liaoning), captured more than 20,000 people and seized more than 100,000 grains. Li Ji moved on and reached Liaodong City (now Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province).

Li Ji began to attack the city, and Emperor Taizong also arrived with ten thousand fighters. Afraid of Tang Jun's rocky vehicles, Han built a battle tower with building blocks on the city to resist the stones. Li Ji arranged a riprap car at the gate of the city, riprapped the city, and pieces of huge stones flew over the city head, invincible; On the other hand, he hit his pavilion with a car, and everything he hit was thrown away. At this time, the south wind started again, and Li Ji took the opportunity to set fire to the southwest building. The fire soon spread to the city. Wind helps fire, and fire rides the wind. Suddenly, the whole city was full of smoke and flames, and the whole city was in chaos. Tang Jun conquered Liaodong City in one fell swoop and burned more than 10,000 captured North Korean soldiers.

After Tang Jun captured Liaodong City, he attacked Baiyancheng (now southeast of Liaoyang). Baiyan city is surrounded by mountains and waters, and it is difficult to attack. Li Ji hit the city with a car, and then hit the city with flying stones from a riprap car, and the flying stones rained down on the city. Sun, commander-in-chief of Korea, couldn't resist, so he raised the city and demanded surrender. So, Tang Jun captured Bai Yancheng again.

In the twentieth year of Zhenguan (646), shortly after the transfer of troops from Liaodong, Xue Yantuo suffered civil strife. Li Ji was ordered to lead his army to fight against chaos, and his army was defeated in Mount Ude. The leader Tizhenda led the troops to surrender, and Dokhmo Khan fled south to the desert valley. Send an emissary to surrender. His tribe is still at both ends of the first mouse. Li Ji then sent his troops to attack, beheading 5,000 people before and after, and taking more than 30,000 prisoners.

Emperor Taizong admired Li Ji's military talent and his loyalty. In the twenty-third year of Zhenguan (649), before he died, he was afraid that he was a veteran of the two dynasties and was difficult to control. He was appointed as the secretariat of Diezhou, and he explained to the prince in person, saying, "Li Ji is more intelligent than before, and he is afraid that he will take pains to serve you, so he has this honor. After I die, I will let it go. If you hesitate to look around, you will easily kill it. " Li Ji seemed to understand the mind of Emperor Taizong, and after serving the imperial edict, he "left his hometown".

After Tang Gaozong and Li Zhi acceded to the throne, Li Ji was recalled as the secretariat and proofreader of Luozhou. Luo Yang Palace stayed behind, joined Kaifu Instrument Company with the Third Division and Shu Tong School, and was responsible for confidentiality. Soon, he worshipped Shangshu as a servant. Afraid of being full, he went to the table in the first year of Yonghui (650) and demanded the dismissal of the left servant archer, but he still knew politics as the third secretary of Kaifuyi. For four years, it was recorded as commonplace. As early as the Zhenguan period, Li Ji used the image of Xun in Lingyange. At this time, Emperor Gaozong ordered a portrait of him and personally prefaced him.

In the sixth year of Yonghui (655), Emperor Gaozong wanted to abolish the queen and made Wu Zhaoyi the queen. This incident caused an uproar among courtiers. Senators headed by ministers Wuji and Chu Suiliang resolutely opposed it, while Li Yifu, Xu and other political losers strongly supported it. Li Ji apparently agreed with Sun Chang and other ministers, but secretly agreed. He once "consulted with Xu and others." In September this year, one day after he retired from the DPRK, the emperor called Sun Chang Wuji, Li Ji, Yu Zhining and Chu Suiliang to the inner hall to discuss the abolition of the Queen again. With the determination to cross the rubicon, Chu Suiliang vowed to fight to the end. When Li Ji saw this scene, he said that he was sick and cleverly avoided it, while Chu Suiliang was almost beheaded because of his desperate struggle. A few days later, Emperor Gaozong told Li Ji privately that he wanted to make tachileik queen, but the minister firmly opposed it, and he found it difficult. Li Ji disapprovingly said: "Your majesty's family affairs, why ask more outsiders!" Although he did not explicitly support the establishment, he suggested that this matter should be regarded as a family matter and ignore the opinions of foreign courts. In fact, he supported Emperor Gaozong's move to abolish the Queen. Therefore, he made a decision.

With the secret support of Li Ji, Tang Gaozong decided to make Empress Wu Zetian despite the opposition of Sun Chang Wuji and others. On the first day of November this year, Emperor Gaozong was in Lin Xuan, and Li Ji was ordered to make Empress Wu Zetian.

The fierce political debate surrounding the abolition of the queen decided the rise and fall of courtiers. Sun Chang Wuji, Chu Suiliang and other opposition parties were successively demoted to local officials, some hanged themselves, and some were found guilty. Li Yifu and other supporters are all successful in my official career, and Li Ji attaches great importance to them. When Gao Zongdong sealed Mount Tai, he served as a Zen envoy. When passing through his hometown, the queen personally visited his widowed sister, gave her clothes, and made her the monarch of Dongping. Li Ji accidentally fell off his horse and hurt his foot. Gao Zongqin asked and gave him a ride.

Chu Suiliang and Han Yuan were killed because of extreme remonstrance. Since then, many ministers have remained silent. One day, when discussing Yang Di with his courtiers, Emperor Gaozong said, "Yang Di refused to protest and died. I often thought that I would quit and ask for advice with an open mind, but I didn't persuade. Why? " Li Ji said obsequiously, "Your Majesty has tried his best, and the ministers have gained nothing."

In the first year of Ganfeng (666), the Tang Dynasty sent troops to Korea again. 12 months, the emperor took Li Ji as the chief of the Liaodong Road March, led by six points, and set out to attack. The old general, who is over 70 years old, has the same style. He can make good decisions and command freely. In February of the following year, Li Ji led his troops across the Liaohe River and arrived at the new town (now Tielingnan, Liaoning). He said to the generals: "Xincheng is the most important town on the western border of North Korea. Without planning first, the rest of the city will not be easy. " Then he went to the southwest of the city, built a wall around the mountain and besieged the new city. Embarrassed in the city, he opened the door and surrendered. Because we conquered the new city, the March went smoothly. "From then on, we moved to Jack" and successively captured sixteen cities.

In February of the first year of General Zhang (668), Fuyu City (now Siping, Jilin) was captured. Prince Koryo sent 50,000 troops to help and met Tang Jun in the snowy river. Li Jijun fought hard to kill the enemy, defeated North Korean soldiers, captured more than 30,000 people, and then marched south. In September, the city of Dahong (now southeast of Liaoning Province) was conquered, and the whole army of Tang Jun joined forces with Li Ji and entered Yalumen, then defeated the North Korean soldiers, pursued for more than 200 miles, captured the humiliating city, and then surrounded Pyongyang (now Pyongyang, North Korea). Prince Quan, the son of the Gaozang Sect of King Koguryo, surrendered to 98 people and raised a white flag to surrender. Li Ji captured Quan Nanjian alive again, so "North Korea is flat". Li Ji returned home in triumph, and after arriving in the suburbs of Beijing, Emperor Gaozong first ordered that Gao Zang be presented to Zhaoling to comfort Emperor Taizong in the grave. Then, we will hold a grand military ceremony, play the song of triumph and enter the capital. In order to reward Li Ji for his impressive military exploits, he appointed the Prince Taishi and added the first batch of 1 100 households.

In November of the second year of Tongzhang (669), Li Ji became ill and his condition gradually deteriorated. The emperor and the prince repeatedly gave good medicine and recalled their children's courtiers in other places. Li Ji was not allowed into the house when the children asked for medical treatment. He said, "I am Fu Tian of Shandong, and I am attached to the wise Lord. I live in a very wealthy position. I'm going to be 80. Isn't it fate? " Shortening must be a period of time, and Ning Ronglang will seek medical treatment for life! "

Seeing Fang and Du Ruhui working hard to build a family business, they were ruined by the black sheep. He was very sad. He thought it was difficult to recover from his illness, so he called the child and said to his younger brother Li Bi, "I think Fang and Du are hardworking and can only set up a portal, and the black sheep are at a loss." I have this descendant, and I will pay you now. After the funeral, you will move into our hall to raise orphans and young children. Please observe it. He is ambitious, and people who make friends with others always kill before listening. "

1February 3, Li Ji died at the age of 76. With tears streaming down his face, Emperor Gaozong said, "Virtue lies in loyalty and filial piety, which has never happened since the Three Dynasties. He is honest and prudent, and has no career. If you die today, you can't win. There is a thick shirt. " He was ordered to mourn for him at Shunshun Gate, and he would not go to court for seven days. Also given Guan Taiwei, Yangzhou viceroy, Zhenwu, buried Zhaoling together. On the day of burial, Emperor Gaozong held a tearful funeral in Weiyang Ancient City Building, and ordered hundreds of officials to send the funeral to the northwest of the old city. According to the story of Wei Qing and Huo Qubing in Han Dynasty, the mausoleum was shaped into the shape of Yinshan Mountain, Tieshan Mountain and Ude Mountain to show his contribution to defeating the Turks and Snow Goose Camels. This mausoleum, which looks like three mountains, still stands at the foot of Jiuzhang Mountain in Liquan County, Shaanxi Province, and has become a historical witness of its achievements.

During his military career, Li Ji was resourceful, decisive and had outstanding military talents. Every time he marched, he "took the teacher as his plan, responded to the enemy's feelings, and moved the machine." Therefore, in major military campaigns such as attacking and destroying East Turkistan, pacifying Xue Yantuo, and conquering Korea, Emperor Taizong once praised him, "How can the ancient Han (letter) be white (on) and Wei (young) Huo (sick)?" In the first year of Shangyuan (760), he and Li Jing were listed as the top ten famous soldiers in history, and he deserved to enjoy the temple name of the city ().

Li Ji has also made great achievements in politics. At the end of the Sui Dynasty, the world suffered from the Sui Dynasty. He actively participated in the torrent of peasant uprisings, made certain contributions to the development and growth of the Wagang Army, and played a role in overthrowing the brutal rule of the Sui Dynasty. The Tang Dynasty also had the merits of pacifying the world and safeguarding national unity. Especially in maintaining border stability and peace, it is even more impressive. Emperor Taizong once spoke highly of him and said, "In terms of economy and trade, there is an unfinished business in the south and a desert in the north, which is awesome and extraordinary, and books are written."
