Will a space-based Internet satellite be launched this year?
The media learned from the Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation that China's space-based Internet system consisting of 156 small satellites will launch its first satellite this year. The future network will enable people to access broadband Internet freely in any corner of the world.

You can surf the internet anytime and anywhere in the future.

The space-based Internet system to be built in China is named "Hongyun Project", and it is planned to launch 156 small satellites, which will be networked and run in the orbit of 1000 km above the ground, in order to build a global mobile Internet with broadband on board.

Zhang Zhongyang, Dean of the Second Academy of Aerospace Science and Industry Group: At present, our Internet access is not covered in many places, and this situation will be completely changed after the completion of the Hongyun project. For example, if we build the Internet of Things, high-speed rail and airplanes, we will be able to provide the same access service experience as WIFI access at home now.

The first technical verification star sample was successfully developed.

"Hongyun Project" has the characteristics of integration of communication, navigation and remote sensing, global coverage and independent control of the system. It is a low-orbit broadband Internet access system based on small satellites. According to the plan, the whole Hongyun project is divided into three steps: "1+4+ 156":

The first step is to launch the first technology verification star to realize the key technology verification of a single star;

Step 2, launch four business test stars and complete business demonstration and experiment through networking;

The third step is to launch 156 satellites to realize networking operation and complete the construction of space-based internet.

Zhang Zhongyang, Dean of the Second Academy of Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation: It is planned to launch the first technical verification star in 20 18. The prototype development of this first satellite is progressing smoothly at present, and it is ready to be launched at the end of the year.
