Under the sky of late autumn in 2004, it is still the land of Shunde. Li shared the rare coolness with us on the lawn of the agricultural park, and the breeze was blowing gently, like the gossamer of the past, blowing through everyone's heart.
Shunde is a county-level community with only 800 square kilometers. In the more than 20 years of reform and opening up, more than15,000 factories have been built, creating a GDP of more than 80 billion yuan. This is not only the pride of Shunde people themselves, but also the pride of entrepreneurs and leaders who have dedicated their youth and blood to this land.
Li said that in Shunde, I always insist that both construction and reform should be one step ahead, not one step beyond the line, but half a step beyond the line. This is the first point.
Second, we should look at the problem historically. Even during the Cultural Revolution, some things were right, such as water conservancy and farmland infrastructure. Personally, when I was with the members, I learned a lot, both positive and negative. Once I was supervised by the labor, I saw several young people watching me playing poker all the time, and didn't work at all, but I got the highest score in the evening. I learned what it means to make a false report. This is not the fault of the masses.
Third, we must persist in emancipating our minds, but we must not emancipate them indiscriminately and combine them with reality. Li said that the locals wanted to go to Hong Kong for dragon boat races, but the superiors were afraid that the farmers would run away, and no one dared to approve. He called the farmers who wanted to take part in the race together for a meeting and said, I promise you will go out for the race with your rice bowl. It is my responsibility to escape. As a result, they won the first place in the race, but none of them ran away and came back. Another time, Sin Nui Hung took an actor to perform, and the same thing happened, which showed that there was something wrong with our thinking.
Fourthly, about Hong Kong TV, I think it has played a positive role in emancipating our minds. 1982, Hu Yaobang came to Shunde and asked Li what he thought of Hong Kong TV. Li asked him if he wanted to hear the truth, and Hu Yaobang said it was the truth. Li replied that TV information in Hong Kong came quickly and timely, while our TV was very backward. Especially when the women's volleyball match is broadcast, many people steal to watch it. Of course, not everything is good. Too many advertisements, too commercial. Later, the leaders of Shunde held a three-hour meeting to discuss how to treat Hong Kong TV. The conclusion was that the old secretary of the provincial party committee said, "Pollution discharge is not exclusive" and we should accept the advanced things in the world.
Fifth, we should not lose our good traditions because this is an information society. Informatization can't take the place of the mass line, and we can't contact the masses with computers; Informatization can't replace the spirit of hard struggle formed over thousands of years. People always have a little spirit. Informatization can't replace investigation and research. Li said that everyone is used to using mobile phones. Without mobile phones, we may not be able to do anything, and information is really convenient and powerful, but we still can't forget to throw away traditional good things. Jiangmen is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese, and there are overseas Chinese from Jiangmen in 107 countries and regions in the world.
Li said that in the past, we broke the hearts of overseas Chinese. After he arrived in Jiangmen, the first thing he had to do was to implement the political and overseas Chinese policies step by step and restore the confidence of overseas Chinese in their hometown. Secondly, under the leadership of the collective leadership, he put forward the slogan of Jiangmen: revitalize the economy of Wuyi and Yang Liang, and build a prosperous and civilized hometown of overseas Chinese.
From 1983 to 1989, Li has been in office for six years and has been making a fuss about this slogan.
Overseas Chinese began to pay attention to Jiangmen and started by donating money to run schools. Li demanded that overseas Chinese's money should be used on the principle of respecting overseas Chinese, and the accounts must be clear. We must make overseas Chinese trust our leaders at all levels. If the funds are insufficient, the government must supply them. We must do a good job and win the trust of overseas Chinese and the people.
In just six years, overseas Chinese donated more than 2.5 billion yuan in Jiangmen.
Overseas Chinese are back, the economy is prosperous and the society is progressing.
In Jiangmen, there are two main things that make Li proud: one is to run Wuyi University; The second is to build an offshore bridge.
When he first arrived in Jiangmen, he found that there was no university in the city with a population of more than 5 million, and the education level was not high, which seriously restricted the economic development. Overseas Chinese leaders and old leaders actively advocate how to run universities well, improve people's cultural level and promote local economic development.
The reality is that no one knows what to do with the university and there is not enough financial support.
1984, Li came to Hong Kong and gathered 33 overseas Chinese from Hong Kong for advice. As a result, we walked halfway in less than 15 minutes, leaving less than 10 people. Someone told Li that it is better to run a "tractor class" than a university. Li told me that we run a university to train talents for the hometown of overseas Chinese. It's understandable that you don't support it, but we still have to run a university. If you support us, it's faster. If you don't support us, we'll do it ourselves, so it's slower.
Li returned to Jiangmen and said to the team members, "I have hit a nail. Do it yourself."
At that time, the local economy was still quite difficult. Jiangmen city and county finance raised a total of 40 million yuan to start the construction of teaching buildings. At the same time, Li invited Professor Ye of Shunde, who is the vice president of Beihang University, to tell him three basic principles: first, we invest in running schools and you manage them; Second, if you have anything, please come to us at any time and we will help you solve it; Third, if you don't do it, we will see you off, that is, you can come and go freely. Mr. Ye agreed and became the first president of Wuyi University. It was 15.
1985, Hong Kong businessman Sir William Kwok donated HK$ 5 million to Wuyi University. His inscription for Wuyi University is: "Everything is difficult at the beginning". Subsequently, a number of Hong Kong businessmen returned to their hometowns to donate money to support running schools.
1986, Wuyi University opened a professional small class and officially started school.
Up to now, Wuyi University has trained nearly 30,000 local college students. The total investment of the school has exceeded several hundred million yuan, of which overseas Chinese have invested more than half. Li was transferred from Shunde, but he is still based in his hometown in Shunde. He used to live in his hometown when he could rest.
Once, he came home from Jiangmen, and it took him eight hours to get home. Just crossing the river delayed him for several hours. He thinks that if Jiangmen is not open to the outside world, no one will go to Jiangmen again.
1984 winter, introduced by Wang Guangying, he found Xionggu Formation and borrowed money from him to repair the bridge, but there was no guarantee unit. I found a leader of the Guangdong provincial government, who agreed neither to guarantee nor to build the bridge. Later, I found a provincial investment trust and charged a higher guarantee fee before I reluctantly agreed. Li Ruyuan borrowed $25 million, and the contract was very simple, requiring 1985 to start construction and 1988 to open to traffic, with a reward of $5,000 one day in advance and a fine of $5,000 one day later.
1.770 meter offshore bridge was completed in 20 months, 4 months ahead of schedule.
Li said that the completion of the Waihai Bridge has changed Jiangmen's status as an "isolated island" and played an extremely important role in Jiangmen's traffic and economic development. Li is a person who thinks while working.
From Shunde to Jiangmen, he has been thinking about what is reform and what is talent.
1979, He Xian (the father of He Houhua) led a Hong Kong businessman to Shunde for the first time, accompanied by Li and Zheng, who each donated 2 million yuan to rebuild Huaqiao Middle School. The whole county is talking in succession, saying that our secretary in a Chinese tunic suit with liberation shoes has changed. He used to like to visit the poor and ask questions, but now he likes the big boss.
Also in this year, Shunde dragon boat race, some people say that it is an opportunity to eat and drink, engage in feudal superstition, and destroy production. Li said that eating and drinking is actually killing pigs, not to mention feudal superstition. The dragon boat race to commemorate Qu Yuan is patriotism, collective heroism and beneficial mass sports.
Both of these incidents reflect a problem of concept and understanding, that is, reform.
Li said that the so-called reform is to take the road that no one has taken before. Do it boldly if you are sure. If you are not sure, try it on a small scale and be the first in the world. Li said that Shunde was the earliest and most thoroughly rehabilitated place in the Cultural Revolution. Except for crimes, everyone went out to work.
In Jiangmen, whether running a university or building a cross-sea bridge is also a matter of concept and understanding.
Li believes that a person can only be regarded as half a talent after graduating from college. Society is a colorful school. Only by constantly learning can we make progress.
Regarding how to cultivate and use talents, Li said that he has three views: first, enter the party school to see who the principal is; Second, we should go to advanced places, go abroad, see the outside world, learn advanced things, and have a direction to move forward; The third is to go to the grassroots level and go below. He has always advocated that young cadres between the ages of 25 and 40 should exercise at the grassroots level for three to five years, work hard and shoulder heavy burdens. However, it's a pity that he didn't stick to it well in Shunde, Jiangmen and later Guangzhou.
About Li's study, I also talked about myself. He said that I don't read much, and it is enough for others to read an article once. I have to read it three times before I can understand it. Over the years, I have persisted in learning from practice, from the masses, from my colleagues, from leaders, and from being a man and doing things.
Learning is something that everyone should do well in his life.
"The method must be more difficult than the reality."
Li said that since his work, he has been traveling in three places: Shunde, Jiangmen and Guangzhou.
Resume is also an important part of the application documents for studying abroad. Things that cannot be mentioned in detail in a personal statement can be listed i
