Compared with Jun porcelain in Song and Jin Dynasties, Jun porcelain in Yuan Dynasty has a single variety and a large number of utensils, which gives people a heavy feeling. Its characteristics are: the fetal glaze is thick, the glaze thickness is uneven, the thick glaze is excessive, and the glaze at the glaze sag reaches the level of "falling like wax tears"; Where the thin glaze is exposed, you can see the wheel fingers and knife marks on the tire. The enamel is thick, and there are many bubbles and brown eyes after firing, and the glaze gloss is poor. Glazes are mostly sky blue and moonlight white. The purple kiln on the vessel is artificial, forming a misty scene, or gathering into an object shape, which is not as beautiful as Song Jun kiln. Yuan Jun's glaze is generally not painted to the end, bare feet and bare core.
There are also many fine Jun porcelain products in the Yuan Dynasty, such as the Jun porcelain double-ear furnace engraved with "Song made his own incense burner on September 15th last year" unearthed in Baita Village, Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, and the kiln-changed double-ear bottle unearthed in Beijing. Jun porcelain two-ear furnace, small mouth, straight neck, round belly, three feet down, ears from mouth edge to shoulder, three carved Kirin on the neck, full shape. There is a clear inscription on the vessel, which is rare in Jun kiln porcelain, providing an important basis for judging its firing age.
Jun porcelain ear-connected bottle is 63.8 cm high. The edge of the bottle mouth is petal-shaped, the neck is long, the shoulders are rich, the upper abdomen is round, and the lower abdomen is slightly contracted. It is connected with the five-hole seat, with ears at symmetrical positions on both shoulders, tiger-head lines on both sides of the shoulders and abdomen, and the word "Wang" on the forehead. The surface of the device is covered with azure glaze, and purple kiln discoloration spots appear on the neck, shoulders and seat.
From the above two representative works of Yuan Jun porcelain, we can see that the shape of Yuan Jun porcelain is not only much larger than that of Song and Jin Dynasties, but also unique in the shape of utensils. Yuan Jun's decorative techniques, such as pile carving and cave carving, on the surface of utensils are not found in Jun kiln porcelain in Song, Jin and Song Dynasties. Through the comparison of food, we can see that the main differences between Yuan Jun and Song Jun are:
1) Song Jun is mostly full-glazed, and the bottom foot is brushed with a sauce-colored protective glaze; Yuan Jun painted more than half of the glaze and was barefoot.
2) Song Jun's glaze is thick and uniform; Yuan Jun glaze is thick and drooping.
3) Song Jun fetal glaze is exquisite; Yuan Jun's fetal glaze is very rough.
4) The change of purple kiln on Song Jun's weapon permeates everything; Yuan Jun gathered together. Song Jun glaze is seamless regardless of its depth; Yuan Jun glaze is mottled or striped in the thick part, and water waves can still be seen in the shallow part. Looking at the production of Jun porcelain in Yuan Dynasty, compared with Song and Jin Dynasties, it developed and improved in quantity, and also improved in modeling and decorative arts, which added new content to Jun porcelain art and fully reflected the distinctive national characteristics and strong artistic appeal. However, Jun porcelain is rare. By the end of Yuan Dynasty, Jun kiln porcelain gradually lost its artistic vitality.
