It is expected that SAIC-GM's 1.5L four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, which meets the national six-B emission standard, will be further applied to more of its models.
In order to meet the requirements of fuel consumption and emissions, SAIC-GM completely replaced the 1.0T/ 1.3T three-cylinder powertrain at the compact level, and cancelled the models equipped with in-line four-cylinder engines. Such measures have directly increased the difficulty in promoting the new car market, and consumers' resistance to three-cylinder models has hindered brand sales. Among them, Buick Hideo has the greatest influence, and all competing models at the same level adopt four-cylinder engines. After the launch of the three-cylinder Hideo, it once fell out of the top ten directly from the top three in the car list, and then it was exchanged for a monthly sales of 20,000+with a large discount. Manufacturers reconsider the introduction of four-cylinder engine models, which further increases consumers' choices and is also to cope with market competition. According to the application information, the new models of Buick Hideo and Chevrolet Luze have not changed in appearance and interior, only the powertrain has been replaced.
The two new models are equipped with L2B 1.5L inline four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, which is also the 1.5L model before the mid-term change of Yinglang. On the new model, the rated power of this 1.5L engine is 1 13 horsepower (83kW), and the maximum net power is 80kW, which is in line with the national sixth emission, but lower than the old Yinglang 1.5L/horsepower. The transmission system has not been announced yet. According to the old Yinglang, the new model will match the 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic manual transmission.
Shi Hong, deputy general manager of SAIC-GM, said in an interview with the media earlier that it is not excluded to carry a three-cylinder engine on a larger model. SAIC-GM will still adhere to the three-cylinder engine strategy to meet the fuel consumption requirements.
It can be expected that SAIC-GM's strategy of adhering to the three-cylinder powertrain will not change, and the old four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine will be regained more to meet the purchasing needs of some consumers and to cope with market competition. Under the strict standards of fuel consumption regulations and emission regulations, many manufacturers are promoting the use of three-cylinder engines, including Toyota, which will also launch 1.5L naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine in 2020 and apply it to its models.
