The Supreme Decree signed by Peruvian President Alain Garcí a, Prime Minister Del Castillo, Foreign Minister, Minister of Justice and Minister of Labor said: "The strong earthquake that occurred in China on May 12, 2008 is not only a disaster for this Asian country, but also a misfortune for all mankind. The Peruvian government expresses its condolences over such heavy casualties and will declare May 19 as a national mourning day. " According to this decree, on the mourning day, senior Peruvian officials will pay tribute to the victims of the earthquake in China through the Embassy of China in Peru, and all government agencies, military facilities, police organs and all Peruvian diplomatic agencies abroad will fly their flags at half mast.
