Before becoming a special education teacher, you must know these three points.
I am an ordinary person who deals with special children every day. I am a special education teacher. Maybe many people don't know much about special education, so it's called special education because our education target is somewhat special. The education targets of special education in China are mainly blind, deaf, dumb, mentally retarded and children and adolescents with other defects. My job is a bit like an ordinary teacher, teaching children all kinds of knowledge; It is also a bit like a psychologist who needs one-on-one intervention and guidance for children. So before you become a special education teacher, you must know the following three points:

1, you should be fully prepared.

There is no job that is not wronged. As a special education teacher, how hard this industry is, maybe you really have to understand it yourself.

I remember when I just graduated, I worked as an intern in an autism training institution. It is said that it trains autism, but it is actually suitable for all types of children. Children with cerebral palsy, developmental retardation and Down syndrome are also among them. I witnessed all kinds of behaviors of children. Some children like you and will always hold you and kiss you. Some children will bump their heads against walls and floors. Some children will play with their own saliva. Some children will stick shit on their hands and play around, even put it in their mouths.

If you haven't come into contact with these people, it will be hard for you to accept. This requires you to be fully prepared to face your child's possible behavior before entering the business, and to have strong love, patience and responsibility. Only by doing this can you calmly face all kinds of situations in the future.

You should constantly update your professional knowledge.

The times are progressing, and your knowledge needs to be constantly updated. As a special education teacher, we should keep learning and improve our professional quality.

Take the training of autistic children as an example, although they are all diagnosed as autism because of the core problem (social disorder). But every autistic child is different, and their obstacles are different, so your coping strategies are different. To meet every special child, you need to format yourself, learn from scratch and find a method that suits him.

Not only that, but also the teaching methods are constantly updated. Just like ABA (applied behavior analysis) is the main method used at first, but due to some limitations of this method, all kinds of big coffees have put forward various new methods. Such as PCI (game and cultural intervention), fioortime (floor time), TEACCH structured teaching and so on. Sometimes it is not enough to educate children with only one teaching method. It requires you to adjust your teaching methods according to your child's stage, and sometimes you may need to combine several different teaching methods.

All these require you to keep an enterprising heart, keep learning, study and study cases. Only in this way can your child be more suitable for his personal education plan and his child can make real progress.

You should have good communication skills.

As a special education teacher, you should not only be able to teach students, but also help parents. Now most families have only one child, and they are all spoiled like little emperors and little princesses. Because our children are weaker than normal children, it is even more deadly for parents to hold their children in their mouths and hands for fear of falling.

I once took care of a child. When he was in class, all six members of his family came to accompany him. The child frowned slightly and shed tears. His parents were distressed to death, and all reasonable and unreasonable demands met him. It is conceivable that children's progress is not obvious, and parents doubt the ability of teachers and even the strength of the entire educational institution.

Faced with this situation, you need to have good communication skills. You need to tell parents the correct way to educate their children, and use your professional knowledge to tell parents what Dojo should do to be really good for her children and make them progress. Since every parent chooses to attend classes, they all hope that their children will get better and better. Since we have the same starting point as our parents, what we need to do next is how to communicate with our parents.

As a special education teacher, you need to remember the above three points. When you enter this industry, you should go all out, because you not only educated a child, but also saved a family.
