In the Northern and Southern Dynasties, Chen, the daughter of her half-sister, was named Princess Ningyuan, and her mother Shi Ji was Emperor Yangdi for nine years. After the Sui Dynasty completed the reunification of the north and south, Chen and other members of the Chen royal family entered Daxing (Jin 'an) from Jiankang as prisoners, were assigned to a palace as maids, and were later elected as concubines of Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty.

Madam, whose name is unknown, is the daughter of Emperor Chen, half-sister, and the concubine of Emperor Wendi in his later years. In the ninth year of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty, after the reunification of North and South in Sui Dynasty, he and members of Chen's royal family entered the dynasty from Jiankang West as prisoners, were assigned to be maids, and were later selected as concubines of Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty.
Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty (54 1, 21-kloc-0/3, August, 604) was the founding emperor of Sui Dynasty and was given the surname Pu by Xianbei. Han nationality, from Huayin, Hongnong County (now Huayin County, Shaanxi Province). His father, Yang Zhong, was a military aristocrat in the Western Wei and Northern Zhou Dynasties. In the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Emperor Wudi was a general, making him a vassal, and Emperor Wendi of Sui inherited his father's title. Emperor Wendi of the Sui Dynasty established the Sui Dynasty, unified China, made Chang 'an (Daxing City) its capital, and founded the Emperor of the Sui Dynasty, creating a brilliant "golden age".
