This is an eagle-chanting poem of Gaoyue in the Tang Dynasty. The eagle is tall and strong, mighty and majestic. Eagles are hard to control by nature. It either soars in the clear blue sky, fights with the wind and waves, or stands proudly on a high mountain peak. Eagle is homophonic with "English", so it is regarded as a symbol of hero. Painters of past dynasties praised him for his foresight, fortitude and dauntless spirit. They also left many excellent eagle paintings with different styles through their subjective thoughts, creative ideas and artistic pursuits. These works are exquisite in modeling, rigorous in structure, elegant in color, delicate in painting, simple in brushwork, unrestrained and free and easy, exaggerated and simple, fantastic in modeling, well versed in tradition and more skillful in writing.
