Legends about the caves in Yule Library
Standing at the mouth of Youer Cave, facing the rolling mountains ahead and staring at the surging river, I can't help but think of an old legend: According to legend, more than 2,000 years ago, Qin Shihuang burned books to bury Confucianism, and Confucian scholars in Xianyang, Kyoto were killed. Seeing that ancient books and classics were about to disappear, two "bald old men" secretly hid their books at home and went south from Xianyang through Henan day and night. After Liu Bang established the Han Dynasty, bamboo slips, wooden slips and ancient books were quickly taken seriously. These two bald Confucian scholars came to Beijing with bamboo slips, and all the civil and military officials in Manzhouli were deeply moved! Book historians do not hesitate to spend money and compete for money. It is precisely "two strange articles are unfamiliar, and books are burned and sent everywhere." All the dignitaries and literati of the past dynasties made a special trip to Yule to worship their ancestors. During the Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty, HengJia Zhang, the governor of Hunan Province, went to the Yuer Library Cave to set up a monument for the imperial edict. Since then, an endless stream of literati have come to Yule to worship every year.
