China is extremely rich in animal species. According to incomplete statistics, there are about 6,000 species of vertebrates (nearly 50 volumes planned), 50,000 species of invertebrates (nearly 150 volumes planned) and 654,380+050,000 species of insects (40,000 species recorded and nearly 300 volumes planned) in China. I haven't finished it. I am also an animal lover. You can buy it in Joyo. At a reasonable price. The compilation and research of Fauna of China is a systematic project to find out the origin of Chinese animal resources for the first time in history. It is a series of monographs reflecting the research achievements of animal classification and fauna in China. It is the cornerstone for further studying species diversity, discussing species evolution and phylogeny, the theoretical basis for developing and utilizing animal resources, controlling harmful species and protecting endangered species, and providing scientific basis for correctly handling the relationship between humans and animals and making decisions to solve population and environmental problems.

From 65438 to 0956, the State Council included the task of compiling Fauna of China in the long-term plan for the development of science and technology in China. 1962 China Zoology Editorial Committee was formally established. 1963, China Academy of Sciences listed China fauna as a key scientific research project. Due to the solid foundation established in 1950s and early 1960s, 27 volumes of China Animal Atlas, 55 volumes of China Economic Insect Fauna and 1 1 volume of China Economic Fauna came out one after another.

Since 1970s, in order to make China Zoology stand in the forefront of the world, the China Zoology Editorial Committee has organized more than 600 zoologists from 104 unit, determined to compile a set of high-level Zoology of China, which has made great contributions to the development of zoology in China.

During the Eighth Five-Year Plan period, Fauna of China, Flora of China and Flora of Spore of China were listed as major projects of the National Natural Science Foundation during the Eighth Five-Year Plan period, which were jointly funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, the State Science and Technology Commission and the China Academy of Sciences. All the editors and researchers are working hard day and night. As of April 1997, Zoology of China has published 33 volumes and 62 volumes have been completed. Over the years, zoology has won 16 national, provincial and ministerial awards, and 1996 collective award for outstanding scientific and technological achievements in Hong Kong.
