1Paragraph 2 of Article 2 12 of the Criminal Procedure Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) revised by the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) in March 1996 stipulates that the death penalty shall be executed by shooting or injection. 1On March 28th, 1997, led by Kunming Intermediate People's Court and under the guidance of relevant departments, the death penalty was executed by injecting drugs for the first time.

Shooting is considered inhumane.
