Liu Bei was killed by Wu Dong because of his sworn brother Guan Yu. In grief, he threw all his strength into attacking Wu Dong. As a result, he was defeated by Lu Xun, the general of Wu Dong, in the battle of Yiling, and retired to Yongan. Finally, in April 223, he entrusted Liu Chan to Zhuge Liang at the age of 63. So Cao Cao died before Liu Bei.
