What is the use of plasma and what role does it play?
The main function of plasma is to carry blood cells and transport substances needed to maintain human life activities and wastes generated in the body.

Plasma classification:

1. Fresh frozen plasma: FFP is obtained by separating plasma within 6 hours after blood collection, freezing it below -30℃ and preserving it below -20℃.

2. Ordinary frozen plasma: it mainly includes plasma separated from whole blood and stored for more than 6-8 hours, and plasma separated within the validity period of whole blood and stored for one year.

3. Virus-inactivated plasma: It is made by using methylene blue virus inactivation technology to inactivate the virus in the plasma separated during the validity period of whole blood or the remaining plasma after the cold-precipitated coagulation factor is separated from fresh frozen plasma and freeze it into a solid state.

Extended data:

Plasma composition

The liquid component of blood accounts for about 50-60% of the whole blood cellar. In addition to water, there are various plasma proteins, inorganic salts, glucose, hormones and other substances in plasma. Electrolyte, nutrients, enzymes, hormones, cholesterol and other important components.

The difference between plasma and serum

Plasma: no free calcium ions.

Serum: contains free calcium ions.

The coagulation factors in serum are much less and the coagulation products are much more.
