Guo Xingang is not an image created by a screenwriter, but a real person in history. His prototype is Guo Qinguang, the only martyr in the May 4th Movement. Guo Xingang in the play is from Qingdao, Shandong, while Guo Qinguang in history is from Wenchang, Guangdong (Wenchang belonged to Guangdong in the Republic of China and now belongs to Hainan Province).
The hero of that stormy era was concerned about the country and the people. In the mighty patriotic movement, he was seriously injured and died of depression at the age of 24.
Guo Qinguang's family environment:
Guo Qinguang, formerly known as Guo, 1895 was born in Longweitang Village, Malong Township, Wenchang, Guangdong. There are five people in his family, including his father Guo Shizhu, his mother Chen, a brother and a sister.
Although the family is poor, my father still tries his best to help him study. Sometimes he really has no money to go to school, so Guo Qinguang sits by and studies as well as others.
Guo Qinguang is clever and studious, and is favored by his uncle who teaches in the countryside. Not only send him to school, but also take the initiative to teach him to read.
