Guo Xingang has a historical prototype. In real history, Guo Xingang was named Guo Qinguang. He was born in Malong Township, Wengtian Town, Wenchang City, Hainan Province. His father is not an officer, but an ordinary farmer.

Guo Xingang is not an image created by a screenwriter, but a real person in history. His prototype is Guo Qinguang, the only martyr in the May 4th Movement. Guo Xingang in the play is from Qingdao, Shandong, while Guo Qinguang in history is from Wenchang, Guangdong (Wenchang belonged to Guangdong in the Republic of China and now belongs to Hainan Province).

The hero of that stormy era was concerned about the country and the people. In the mighty patriotic movement, he was seriously injured and died of depression at the age of 24.
