In which provinces does Huang Lian exist?
Coptis chinensis is produced in Hubei, Sichuan, Chongqing, Shaanxi, Hunan and other provinces in China. According to different origins and types, commercial Coptis chinensis can be divided into three categories: Youweilian, Yalian and Lianyun. Among them, William (also known as Ji Zhaolian) has the largest planting area and is the main commodity variety of Coptis chinensis, accounting for more than 90% of the total sales of Coptis chinensis. William is mainly distributed in western Hubei, eastern Sichuan (now Chongqing) and southwestern Shaanxi. Lichuan, Hubei and Shizhu, Chongqing are both famous "Hometown of Coptis chinensis" in China, and they have also obtained the certificate of origin protection of Coptis chinensis and the GAP certification of Coptis chinensis. Although Lichuan, Hubei and Shizhu, Chongqing belong to two different provinces and cities, in fact, the distance between the two counties and cities is only about 100 km, and the areas where the two counties and cities are really rich in coptis are actually adjacent towns and villages located within about 100 km on the east and west sides of the same mountain range (Qiyue Mountain), as well as adjacent Enshi, Xianfeng, Jianshi and Badong counties (cities). The cultivated area of William in Lichuan and Shizhu counties and cities alone is as high as 60,000 mu, accounting for more than 60% of the total area of Coptis chinensis in China. In addition, the area of several surrounding counties and cities, in fact, only Enshi Autonomous Prefecture in Hubei and Shizhu in Chongqing account for more than 80% of the total commercial Coptis chinensis. Yalian is mainly produced in Hongya County and Ya 'an City, Sichuan Province, so it is called Yalian. At present, the planting area is small and basically wild, so its commodity supply is very small. Lianyun is mainly distributed in northwest Yunnan, characterized by single branch, too long bridge and less market supply. China Pharmacopoeia stipulates that all three kinds of Coptis chinensis can be used as Coptis chinensis.
