Chen Qin, a native of Cangwu, was an outstanding Confucian scholar in Han Dynasty and the earliest Confucian scholar in Lingnan. He wrote Chen Chunqiu. Chen Qin's son, Chen Yuan, devoted himself to the study of Zuo Zhuan, and was appointed as the top doctor of Zuo Zhuan by Emperor Guangwu of Han Dynasty, who wrote the Similarities and Differences of Zuo Zhuan.

Chen Jianqing, the son of Chen Yuan, is known as "Wen". Chen Qin, Chen Yuan and Chen Jianqing, three generations of grandparents and grandchildren, as representatives of ancient classic writers, are famous for their study of the Spring and Autumn Annals and the Book of Changes, and they also teach Confucian classics in Cangwu, so they are called "Three Chens".

Xie (Zi), a native of Cangwu County, was once the prefect of Jiaozhi (Cangwu) Seven Counties, and actively advocated the spread of Confucianism, including Notes on Spring and Autumn, Notes on Rams and Notes on Gu Liang. His brothers Shi Yi, You Shi and Wu Shi are Hepu people, Jiu Zhenren and Nanhai Taishou respectively. The four brothers are called "Four Gentlemen".

Mozi, a Buddhist at the end of the Han Dynasty, was a satrap of Jiaozhi (Cangwu) and devoted himself to studying Laozi and Buddhism. He was the first person to study Buddhism in Lingnan.

There are many celebrities in Cangwu. According to historical records, there were 40 scholars in Cangwu from Chen in Song Dynasty to Guangxu in Qing Dynasty. Feng Jing, the "Three Yuan Ji" in the Northern Song Dynasty, was originally from Yizhou and later moved to Tengzhou. At the age of 28, he was awarded a bachelor's degree in Hanlin as a member of Sanyuanji (Xie Yuan, Huiyuan and Champion) and served as the Governor of Jiangning, Kaifeng and Taiyuan.

Yuan Chonghuan, the minister of the Ministry of War in the Ming Dynasty, Li Xiucheng, Chen Yucheng, Lao Li, a famous scholar Liang Yusheng, and Tan Shuping, a world diving champion, were all from Wuzhou.
