Are black widow spiders distributed in China? thank you
In China, there are two species of spiders belonging to the genus coelacanth, namely, L. elegans Thorell (1898) and L. Tredecimguttatus (Rossi, 1790).

The former is known to be distributed in Sichuan (Zhu 1998), Hainan, Taiwan Province (Ono 2002) and Yunnan (collected by Yang Zizhong) in China. This was found under rocks and in cracks. Zhu (1998) once identified it as Lactobacillus Maitang, but Ono (2002) thought it was a wrong identification. There are also records in India, Myanmar and Japan abroad.

The latter is only found in Xinjiang (Zhu 1998), near cattle and sheep pens, or under rocks and crevices in natural environment; Foreign records are distributed in Europe (also known as "Black Widows in the Mediterranean"), West Asia and Central Asia.

Morphological characteristics of black widow spider;

The black widow spider is black all over, and the male spider has red spots on his abdomen, which is 2-8 cm in length. Because the female of this spider killed the male spouse immediately after mating, it was named "black widow" by the people.

The abdomen of an adult female black widow spider is bright black with a red hourglass-shaped spot. This spot is usually red, and some may be between white and yellow or red and orange. For some species, spots may be two independent points.
