Yang's birth resume
Yang (999- 1074), whose real name is Zhong Rong, was born in Taiyuan (now Taiyuan, Shanxi Province), a famous soldier in the Northern Song Dynasty, the son of Yang Ye, the grandson of Yang Ye (Yang is the son of Yang in the official history and a fictional character in the romance of Yangjiafu). Used by Fan Zhongyan, his ancestral home is Linzhou (now Shenmu North, Shaanxi).

Yang was born in the second year of Xianping (999) and died in the seventh year of Xining (1074).
