William Steig, born in new york, 1907, was educated in new york City University and National Design Institute. At the age of 23, he began his career as a professional cartoonist, designing cover and inner page illustrations for magazines such as The New Yorker. 1968, the first children's picture book was published. Many people were surprised at that time, but they all admired his courage to set foot in another industry at the age of 6 1. As a result, the next year, he was listed as a horn book with Sylvester and the Philosopher's Stone. The following year, the Cardet Kurt Prize was also awarded to this book. After that, the works continued to flow and won awards one after another. 1983, he won the Newbery Award for his excellent work Dr. De ·SOTO, and he himself was nominated for the Andersen Award in 1988. This grandfathered author died in 2003 at the age of 95.
