According to the report of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, as of September 25th, 2008 12, the Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan has caused 69,227 deaths, 374,643 injuries and 17923 missing.
According to the report of the Ministry of Health, as of September 22nd, 2008 12, 96,544 people were hospitalized due to earthquake injuries (excluding the number of patients in disaster areas), 935 people were discharged from hospital18, and 352 people were still hospitalized, including 4273 people who were transferred from Sichuan to other provinces and cities for hospitalization12.
According to the report of the General Staff Department, as of September 25th, 2008, 1486407 rescue and relief workers have been rescued and transferred. There were 63,200 houses collapsed and 246,000 dangerous houses. The Chongqing earthquake caused 16 deaths, 637 injuries and 2133,300 disasters. 1 people were killed and 15 people were injured in the Guizhou earthquake. Many houses have cracked and collapsed, and the possibility of a destructive earthquake is extremely small. The Yunnan earthquake caused 1 person to die, 5 1 person to be injured, and some houses in Zhaotong and Chuxiong collapsed. Hunan earthquake 1 people were killed, and houses in Changsha shook obviously. The earthquake in Hubei Province killed 1 person and injured 14 person. The earthquake in Wuhan was obvious, and Xiangfan (now renamed Xiangyang) and Shiyan were affected. Two people were killed and eight injured in the Henan earthquake. (As at 4 September 2008)
The Wenchuan M8.0 earthquake caused direct economic losses of 845.2 billion yuan. Sichuan suffered the most serious losses, accounting for 9 1.3%, Gansu 5.8% and Shaanxi 2.9%. The National Bureau of Statistics divides the loss indicators into three categories, the first category is the problem of casualties, the second category is the problem of property loss, and the third category is the problem of natural environment damage. Among the property losses, housing losses are relatively large, and the losses of private houses and urban residents' houses account for 27.4% of the total losses. The losses including schools, hospitals and other non-residential buildings accounted for 20.4% of the total losses.
In addition, there are urban infrastructure losses such as infrastructure, roads and bridges, accounting for 2 1.9% of the total losses. These three categories are relatively large, and more than 70% of the losses are caused by these three aspects. The provincial road from Mianzhu to Beichuan 105 was rushed through on May 5, 2008 18, and the number of routes for relief materials to Beichuan increased to two, which eased the transportation pressure of county roads from Mianyang to Beichuan via Anxian.
Progress has also been made in rushing through the northern highway. The 302 provincial highway from Heishui to Maoxian is progressing smoothly, 6 kilometers away from Maoxian. The 2 13 national highway from Songpan to Maoxian has also been rushed to 6 kilometers away from Maoxian.
There are still 29 kilometers from Wenchuan to Maoxian. According to remote sensing monitoring, about 14 section was flooded or collapsed due to landslide. In addition to the above-mentioned national highway 3 17 from Manager County of Marcand to Wenchuan, the provincial highway 303 from Danba to Yingxiu has rushed through Wolong, 40 kilometers away from Yingxiu. According to Xian Xiong, deputy director of Sichuan Provincial Communications Department, the most arduous task of all roads is the eastern highway. When the 302 provincial highway from Beichuan to Maoxian rushed to 28 kilometers away from Maoxian, the mountain collapsed again, and the area from Beichuan County to Xuanping 16 kilometers was flooded, making it difficult to rush through.
