According to the Beijing News, Yang Weijun's daughter told reporters that Yang Weijun had pneumonia caused by a cold, which developed rapidly and died ten days later. At present, Yang Weijun's body is in the funeral home, and the farewell ceremony will be held in Happy Valley Cemetery in Kunming on June 12.

Yang Weijun, 1922, a native of Kunming, Yunnan; 1945 graduated from the political department of Yunnan University and joined the China Democratic League; 1949, to help persuade Lu Han uprising; 1949 to 1959 as deputy secretary-general of Yunnan CPPCC; 1978, resumed work, deputy secretary general of Yunnan CPPCC, and later served as vice chairman of Yunnan CPPCC.
